Attaching the Locking Handles to the Head
There are three locking handles that need to be attached to
the head. The longest handle locks the forward and
backward tilting movement. The next-shortest handle locks
the side-to-side tilting movement. The shortest handle locks
the panning movement.
Assembling Head to
Tripod
Mount the head on a tripod
using the
" female thread
on the bottom of the head
(A). The top plate of the
Calumet tripods feature
three set screws (B) which
tighten against the base of
the head to ensure secure
positioning.

Attaching Camera to
Quick-Release Plate

QR plate by screwing the
threaded screw into the
camera's base mount
using the pop-up handle
(F) on the under side of
plate. Before fully tightening, be sure that camera is parallel
to the plate with the lens side of the camera over the small
hole in the QR plate. When fully tightened, replace pop-up
handle flat against plate.
Mounting Camera to
Head
With camera facing
forward, insert the
quick-release plate
under the front lip on top
of the head (G) and push
down on the camera
until the locking lever clicks into locking position, holding
plate in place. Make sure the plate is securely locked in place
by rotating the safety lock (D) into its locked position.
Removing Camera from Head
First release the safety lock and, while holding the camera
securely in one hand, rotate the locking lever (E) counter-
clockwise until plate pops up and is released from head.
Using the 3-Way Head
Each movement of the head — side-to-side tilt, forward-to-
back tilt and pan — has its own locking handle. The bottom
locking handle (H) controls 360° panning movement. The
short locking handle (I) controls side-to-side tilting
movement. The long locking handle (J) controls forward and
backward tilting movement. A spirit level is built into the top
of the head (K), in front of the mounting plate for convenient
leveling of the camera.
