The GS811-A carbon monoxide detector may be beeping continuously even after changing the batteries due to the end-of-life warning. This alarm has a product life of 7 years from initial power-up. After this period, it enters the end-of-life warning mode and must be replaced immediately, as it will no longer detect carbon monoxide. If the alarm has been in end-of-life mode for more than 30 days, it cannot be silenced.

Why did an alarm for about 5 seconds then stopped

The GS811-A alarm did not sound for only 5 seconds and stop. According to the manual, when the alarm detects a dangerous level of carbon monoxide (CO), it emits a loud alarm pattern of 4 quick beeps followed by 5 seconds of silence, repeating as long as the dangerous CO condition exists. After 4 minutes, the silence period changes to 60 seconds. If the alarm stopped after about 5 seconds, it may have been manually silenced or the CO level may have dissipated quickly.
