  • Page 3 Präventionsorientierte Frühbehandlung Schädliche Faktoren, die das Gesichtswachstum und die Zahnstellungen nachhaltig beeinträchtigen, erfordern eine frühzeitige präventive, d.h. vorbeugende Behand­ lung. Schädlich sind Lutschgewohnheiten (Habits) am Beruhi gungs sauger, Daumen oder anderen Lutsch­ körpern sowie Dysfunktionen der oralen Muskulatur, die oftmals mit allgemeinen Haltungsschwächen verbun­ den sind.
  • Page 4 Wie Kieferanomalien entstehen Durch anhaltende Lutschgewohnheiten – gleich welcher Art – wird die Zunge nach hinten und unten verdrängt. Sie liegt nicht mehr an den Zähnen an und verursacht dadurch ein Ungleichgewicht zwischen der Zungen­ und Wangenmuskulatur. Der Oberkiefer wird eingeengt, es entsteht Platzmangel, der schief stehende Schneidezähne zur Folge hat.
  • Page 5 Beim falschen Schlucken, was auch unbewusst ca. 1.500 Mal täglich geschieht, schiebt sich die Zunge immer zwischen die Schneidezähne und verkürzt diese. Die Folge: ein offener Biss. Zur Behandlung von fehlerhaftem Schlucken und Sprech fehlern sollte zusätzlich eine logopädi­ sche Therapie erfolgen.

  • Page 15 Prevention-oriented early treatment Harmful factors that have a lasting effect on facial growth and tooth positions require early preventive = precautionary treatment. Harmful factors are sucking habits on the soother, thumb or other bodies as well as dysfunctions of the oral musculature, which are often associated with general postural weaknesses.
