Caution when moving the main unit As this product is heavy, whenever it is moved, at least two people are required to transport it safely.

    To view digital still pictures, insert a SD card into the card slot with pictures taken from a Digital Camera, to view them on the TV screen. Also this card slot is for future software upgrades. Hitachi R/C and Ambient Light Sensor will notify you if a software upgrade is required for your TV.
  • Page 10 This jack provides IR output to your external components (VCR, Cable box, DVD player, etc.). This connection will allow you to control the external components with their original remote through your Hitachi Plasma Television. (For more detail see page 48 and the included Easy Graphic Guide).
  • Page 11 Quick Reference Remote Control Buttons and Functions In addition to controlling all of the functions on your Hitachi Plasma TV, the new remote control is designed to operate different types of devices, such as, DVD Players, CBL (Cable Boxes), set-top-boxes, satellite receivers, and VCRs. The remote control must be programmed to control the chosen device.

Please use this TV Setup Wizard to help TV Guide On Screen The First time you turn on your Hitachi Plasma TV the Energy Savings Initial Settings screen will appear. Please select either HOME or RETAIL mode settings to advance to the TV Setup Wizard screen.

For best performance, video and audio cables should be made from coaxial shielded wire.     How to Use the Remote to Control your TV (-) DASH /Sleep Button Use the (-) DASH button with the CHANNEL SELECTOR buttons to enter Digital Channels that have subchannel numbers indicated by (-) DASH (example 15-1). For TV mode only, press to Set the Sleep Timer from 30 minutes to 3 hours in 30 minutes increments.
  • Page 20 ASPECT button Press this button to quickly change the picture format ASPECT ratio. Depending on the input signal format received, the picture format ratio allows you to adjust the images through the following options. For Automatic aspect ratio adjustment depending on the input signal to fill the screen please refer to Auto Aspect function on page 37.

    How to Use the Remote to Control your TV DAY/NIGHT button Press this button to toggle between Dynamic, Day and Night picture mode settings. Select DYNAMIC for day time viewing with more brightness and contrast to compete with room light. Select DAY for automatic brightness and contrast adjustment.
  • Page 22 This feature is useful for viewing digital still pictures from the MMC/SD memory cards using the Photo Input slot in the side panel of your Hitachi Plasma Television. Press the INPUT button to cycle through the INPUTS selections until the PHOTO INPUT is selected. Press the SELECT button or CURSOR PAD .

    Picture-In Picture (PIP) Your HITACHI Plasma TV incorporates one Tuner technology designed for improved viewing enjoyment This feature allows you to view Digital Channels and Video inputs on both the main picture and sub picture simultaneously with separate control. Analog channels cannot be viewed in PIP mode.
  • Page 24 PAUSE button Press the PAUSE button repeatedly to toggle between FREEZE modes (Main Freeze, SPLIT and STROBE). This is convenient when trying to write down the address for a mail order company, recording statistics for a sporting event, etc. To return the picture to motion, press the EXIT button.

    How to Use the Macro Buttons This optional feature allows the user to record a sequence of keys to conveniently operate multiple devices with one key press. The Macro can only be created on the control’s TV mode. Macro Setup procedure Select TV mode by pressing the TV button.
  • Page 30 The Mode LED will come ON indicating that is ready for learning and will remain ON until the process is complete. On the Hitachi R/C press a key that will learn the new code from the other device R/C. The mode LED will blink rapidly and keep blinking for 5 seconds and the LED will turn off and await a different key press.
