Quick Start Guide – Magshot Tool
Step 1 – Arming Probe
Power up probe by rolling tool 360 degrees in a horizontal position; wait for connection
indicator dot to turn solid blue indicating wireless connection, this could take up to 30
seconds;
From main menu select <Arm Probe>;
Select <Oneshot Mode> or <Multishot Mode> from "Survey Type" drop down menu;
Set "Hold Off" time so that probe wakes up well before you need to take first survey;
Leave shot interval at "15 Seconds";
Select <OK>. Probe will now power up and can now be moved.
Step 2 – Taking Surveys
Attach bump sub and e-rods to survey tool, connect to wireline and lower down hole;
When approaching survey depth, slow down wireline speed to around 10 meters a minute;
Land the tool through the drill bit and allow to settle for 10-15 seconds;
For Oneshot mode;
Select <Press when at Bottom of hole>;
Input Depth & then select <OK>;
Do not move the survey probe until the software advises the survey is complete
For Multishot mode;
Select <Press to Take Survey>;
Input Depth and Depth Increment, if the survey is an outrun select <Outrun>
otherwise leave as is and the software will assume it is an inrun survey, select <OK>;
Move survey probe to next depth and repeat the process, continue until survey is
complete.
Once survey is complete select <Cancel Survey> to exit.
When the Oneshot or Multishot survey is complete press <OK> and proceed to winch
the survey probe to the surface at normal speed;
When survey probe is at surface, layout on rod rack and remove from the wireline/e-
rods.
Step 3 – Downloading Survey
Power up probe by rolling tool 360 degrees in a horizontal position; wait for connection
indicator dot to turn solid blue indicating wireless connection, this may take up to 30
seconds;
From main menu select <Read Probe>;
For Oneshot surveys;
If the hole name already exists select it to append the results to it and press <Enter>;
If the survey is the first survey of a new hole you will have to type in the hole name
then press <Enter>;
For Multishot surveys;
type in the hole name then press <Enter>;
To export survey file, insert USB stick then select: Main Menu > View survey > Export >
Basic > OK > Select Hole number > OK > USB stick > OK.
