    SERIES CRADLE RS232 / ETHERNET To provide the user with the same performance and flexibility which gives the SCANNDYbasic cradle unit, PANMOBIL offers a special made Gun-Cradle which is designed to use with SCANNDYgun Type unit. The Gun Type Cradle unite provides the same features as the Basic Type Cradle unit like flexible cable connections via RS232 cable, Keyboard Wedge cable, USB cable or Ethernet connection.

    GETTING STARTED Connecting the cradle unit to the host computer system 1. Power OFF your Computer system 2. Plug the power supply connector into the power jack of the cradle 3. Plug the interface cable into the connector of the cradle 4.
  • Page 10 To charge the battery, place the SCANNDY unit into the cradles slot. As soon as the battery starts charging, the power LED indicates red light. When the battery is fully charged, the red LED indicator switches OFF automatically. NOTE: When charging the battery for the first time, please keep the SCANNDY unit into the cradle for min. 8 hours even if the red LED indicator already switched off, to make sure the battery is running on it’s best performance! It is important to consider the surrounding temperature whenever you are charging the Li-Ion...

    SCANNDY CRADLE CONFIGURATION PROCEDURE The Scanndy Cradle units can be configured to fit the user’s specific application. The configuration parameters are stored in a non-volatile memory which is retained even if power is lost. To configure your Scanndy Cradle by scanning configuration bar codes, you first need to establish a Bluetooth connection between Scanndy device and Cradle by scanning the serial number label on the bottom of the Cradle device.

    There are no further setups necessary for the main RS232 interface. Bluetooth Class I interface (optional) To provide the user with the most possible flexibility, PANMOBIL integrates an Bluetooth Class I interface to the cradle devices as an option. To pair the SCANNDY device to the cradle, simply scan the serial number barcode on the bottom of the cradle device.

    USB INTERFACE (VIRTUAL COM) To provide the possibility to connect the SCANNDY Cradle to an USB interface, PANMOBILE offers an RS232 to USB converter adapter to be used with the standard RS232 cable as an option. To connect the SCANNDY Cradle to an USB interface, simply plug the standard RS232 cable to the RS232 to USB converter and the converter to an USB interface of your PC.

    ETHERNET INTERFACE To provide the flexibility to transfer data collected with SCANNDY devices trough The Intranet or Internet, the SCANNDY Cradles are also available with a build in 10/100 Mbit Ethernet interface. This makes possible to send/receive data collected with SCANNDY devices from nearly anywhere in the world to/from a local server.

    SETUP PROCEDURE FOR ETHERNET COMMUNICATION This chapter covers the steps for getting the Ethernet Cradle online and working. Required information Hardware address You need to know the units hardware address (also known as MAC address) which is on the product label. It is in the format: 00-20-4a-XX-XX-XX, where the XXs are unique numbers assigned to the product.

    WEB SERVER SETTINGS To view or modify the Web Server settings, please click the link “Server” To make shore that the Ethernet Cradle can not be accessed via telnet by unauthorized persons, you can specify a telnet password and click the OK button to update this setting. Please do not change the Advanced settings.

    HOST LIST You can specify a Host List to make sure that even if a host is not reachable for different reasons an alternate host can receive data from SCANNDY devices.     CONNECTION PROTOCOL The Ethernet Cradle devices are setup to use the TCP/IP protocol as default. If you are using the UDP protocol on your network, please click the link “Connection” to change the protocol or modify connection settings. Click the Protocol drop down window and select UDP from the list to change the connection protocol to UDP.

    CONNECTION MODE PASSIVE CONNECTION Passive connections are connections where the Host or client PCs initiates a connection. Accept Incoming Connection Set this option to Yes, to enable the device to accept an incoming connections. Password Required Set the Password required option to Yes, if only authorized users are allowed to establish a passive connection to the cradle device.

    CONNECTION MODE ACTIVE CONNECTION After power on, the SCANNDY cradle automatically tries to establish a connection to the Remote Host. This is called Active connection. Click on the drop down window “Active Connection” to specify different options for an Active connection.

    ENDPOINT CONFIGURATION Local Port Specify the Port for the Passive connection Remote Port of the Host Specify the Port for the Active connection Remote Host Specify the IP address of the Remote Host for the active connection. Do not specify a Remote Host and Port if you are using the Host list. Auto Increment Source Port Set this option to True, if more than one users can connect to the cradle at same time.
