Failure
of the flexible hydraulic hoses most often
occurs because of damage, but can also be the
result of weather, chemicals, or storage conditions
where the machine is stored in an extremely warm
environment.
A preventive
maintenance
replacement program that has hydraulic hoses
replaced at the first
sign of damage should prove
beneficial when lines are not protected from the
elements, such as the sun, chemicals, or physical
damage.
Torque figures above are recommended for plain,
cadmium,
or zinc plated
fittings;
dry or wet
installations.
These torque valves are not for tubes of 1/2 inch
(12.7mm) 0.0. or larger with wall thicknesses of .035
inch (.889mm) or less. The torque is specified for
.035 inch (.899mm) wall tubes on each application
individually.

IMPORTANT NOTE: When replacing the hydraulic
hose that connects the control valve to the oil
cooler (radiator) special care should be taken regar-
ding the hydraulic fitting on the oil cooler because
on newer GROUNDSMASTER@ mowers, it is a
special fitting.
TABLE:
DT = Desired Torque
WL = Wrench Effective Length
TL = Total Length
TS = Torque Setting
Calculation of torque setting is necessary when
adapters are used with a torque wrench (as shown).

EXAMPLE: Desired torque is 15 ft-lb (2.07 KgM)
Wrench length 13.2 inches (33.5cm)
Total length 14.2 inches (36.0cm)
Newer gasoline models may contain a special
washer which is used as an orifice to restrict oil flow
into the cooler. Be careful to account for and install
this washer properly between the 90 degree elbow
and the hydraulic hose fitting. Should the washer be
allowed to tilt sideways during installation, a squeal-
