Have the restraint system checked and
repaired immediately at a qualified specialist
workshop. After an accident, immediately
switch the ignition off and remove the key
from the ignition lock.
The hybrid system is deactivated automati-
cally if:
components of the restraint system are
R
activated in an accident
a short circuit is detected in the hybrid sys-
R
tem.
a hybrid system connection is disconnec-
R
ted.
This ensures that you do not come into con-
tact with high voltage.
Manual deactivation of the hybrid sys-
tem
The hybrid system can be deactivated man-
ually using the high voltage switch-off device.
! To prevent damage to the hybrid system
please observe the following instructions:
only deactivate the hybrid system man-
R
ually in the following situations.
work on the hybrid system may only be
R
carried out at a qualified specialist work-
shop, even when it has been deactivated
manually.
if the 6 restraint system warning lamp
R
in the instrument cluster lights up after an
accident.
if the vehicle is badly damaged, e.g. after
R
an accident, and the restraint system com-
ponents were not activated.
if the vehicle is badly damaged and has to
R
be towed or transported.
If possible, move the vehicle out of the
X
danger zone: shift the automatic transmis-
sion into position N.
Release the electric parking brake.
X
Roll the vehicle to a safe place and park it
X
safely.
Get assistance from others if necessary.

The vehicle is locked automatically when
the ignition is switched on and the wheels
are turning. There is therefore a risk of
being locked out if the vehicle is being
pushed or tested on a dynamometer.
Switch the ignition off.

Shift the automatic transmission to park
X
position P (

Apply the electric parking brake

Secure the vehicle against rolling away
(
page 451).

To use the high-voltage switch-off
X
device: open the boot lid.
Lift the boot floor upwards (
X
Remove the boot cover on the right-hand
X
side.
Press release clip : in the direction of the
X
arrow and pull it out.
Pull high voltage switch-off device ; apart
X
until it engages in the stop position.
If the hybrid system has been deactivated due
to reasons mentioned above, have it checked
at a qualified specialist workshop before
reactivation.
High-voltage battery

WARNING
In the event of a vehicle fire, the internal pres-
sure of the high-voltage battery could exceed
a critical value. In this case, flammable gas
escapes through a vent valve in the vehicle's
