  • Page 27  -          Install the face-up (output) tray and the multipurpose (input) tray. Remove the fuser unit spacer and the fuser roller separators from the fuser unit, and install the fuser oil roller. Remove the toner spacers, install the four toner cartridges, and install the OPC drum cartridge.
  • Page 28       Fold the face-up tray upward, then fit the tray’s right coupling arm into the corresponding hole in the printer. When doing this, hold the metal spring leaf (ends in a     loop) close to the face-up tray. Note: Make sure that the metal spring leaf extends downward »...
  • Page 29  -     "     &$"   Slide the fuser unit on the left side of the printer out as far as it will go. Remove the tape and the two metal fuser roller separators. Remove the spacer (labeled “A”). Remove the fuser oil roller from its package.
  • Page 30           Caution: Oil on this roller will come off on your skin if touched directly. Shield this roller from dust and toner when removing or inserting into the fusing unit. Hold the fuser oil roller as shown in the diagram.
  • Page 31  -    » Note: The toner in the cartridge is nontoxic. However, if you get any toner on your hands or clothes, wash it off promptly with cool water. Open the printer’s front cover. Pull out and remove the foam spacer (labeled with the tag “B”).
  • Page 32       Evenly distribute the toner in the cartridge. Holding a cartridge with both hands, gently rock it from side- to-side seven or eight times. Holding the toner cartridge so the arrow is at the top, insert the cartridge as far as it will go.
  • Page 33  -    Turn the knob clockwise as  far as it will go to move the cartridge into position. Note: The knob will not turn » unless the toner cartridge is set properly. If the knob will not turn, recheck for proper toner cartridge installation.
  • Page 34       Turn the small lever on the top of the OPC drum car- tridge counterclockwise to the Unlock position. Align the guide with the top   of the printer rail by match- ing up the small arrows. Caution: If the guide on the OPC drum cartridge is not aligned with the top of the rail, the cartridge may be damaged.
  • Page 35  -       Slide the media cassette out. Remove the tape and card- board spacer from the right side of the cassette. Remove the foam spacer    (labeled “C”) from the media cassette. » Note: You may have to slightly   open the media guide clips.
  • Page 36       #     Press the metal plate until it latches. Squeeze in the retainers to move the media guide clips all the way toward the outer edges. Align the four corners of the media stack, and insert it under the fluke at the front right side, with the print side  facing down.

If this occurs, slide the vertical guide clip momentarily to the left edge, then reposition it according to the proper hole in the scale.

Button Function The Online button switches the printer between online and offline status. When off line, the printer continues printing until it has finished all jobs received, but it doesn’t accept any new data.

First press the Online button to take the printer off line, and then press the Menu button to access the configuration menu. When you’re changing the printer configuration, press this button to cancel a change (before pressing the Select buttons), to return to a previous menu, or to return to a previous character when entering character information.
