Basics Home Screen Overview The home screen is what you see when you first turn on yourdevice. From here, you can explore apps and more. • Widgets: To put widgets like a clock, interactive calendar, and more on your home screen, touch and hold an empty spot on the home screen, then tap WIDGETS.
Status & notifications At the top of the screen, icons on the left notify you about new messages or events. If you don’t know what an icon means, swipe the status bar down for details. The icons displayed on the status bar provide information about the status of the device. The icons listed in the table below are most common.
Add & switch users Note: Only the device’s owner can add a user. Swipe down the status bar with two fingers and tap Profile .Follow the prompts to add a new user. To switch users, swipe down the status bar with two fingers and tap Profile .
Connect & transfer Wi-Fi networks Wi-Fi provides wireless Internet access over distances of up to 300 feet. To use your device’s Wi-Fi, you need access to a wireless access point or “hotspot.” The availability and range of the Wi-Fi signal depends on a number of factors, including infrastructure and other objects through which the signal passes.
Connect devices The first time you connect a Bluetooth device, follow these steps: 1. Make sure the device you are pairing with is in discoverablemode. 2. Touch Settings > Bluetooth. 3. NFC Settings NFC (Near Field Communication) is a wireless technology that enables data transmission between two objects when they are brought within a few inches of each other.
Application Manager You can download and install applications from the Google Play Store or create applications using the Android SDK and install them on your device. Use Application manager to manage applications on your device. 1. TouchSettings >Apps. 2. Touch Downloaded, Phone storage, Running or All to view the status of apps and services. Tap an app or service for more information, and for app options, such as stopping and uninstalling.
