  • Page 8: Handling The Polyethylene Tube

    Keep the tube pressurized to 100 PSI when rewinding! Remember, polyethylene tube is semi-rigid and subject to being crimped. The foregoing precautions will reduce the possibility of kinking or damaging your tube. P/N 19302390 Revised on 3/1/14, Kifco, Inc.

    When these conditions are met, the machine should be in time and ready to wind in (See Fig. 1 below). Fig. 2 illustrates a machine that is not in time. Fig. 1 Fig. 2 P/N 19302390 Revised on 3/1/14, Kifco, Inc.
  • Page 10 Step 3 - Replace the Levelwind guard and then replace the fork, being especially careful not to have any over-hang on the chain side of the mounting plate as shown below. Caution! Over-hang on the chain side of the mounting plate when replacing the fork will cause damage to the unit during operation! P/N 19302390 Revised on 3/1/14, Kifco, Inc.

    Only turn the spool just enough to release the anti-reverse pawl. Over rotating can cause the coils of tube to loosen. The gearbox needs to be in high (H) or low (L) gear for the spool to turn. P/N 19302390 Revised on 3/1/14, Kifco, Inc.

    (40 Feet Per Mi- nute) until it has reached the desired starting point to begin foaming. Step 6 - Disconnect the foam trolley towing chain and return to holder. P/N 19302390 Revised on 3/1/14, Kifco, Inc.

    Step 2 - Engage the gearbox by pushing in the Clutch Lever. Step 3 - Reset the gearbox by firmly pulling out the stop rod once again. Note: This must be done before the machine will go into gear. P/N 19302390 Revised on 3/1/14, Kifco, Inc.

    Sanitation System - Tube Cleaning: Kifco’s Avi-FoamGuard is equipped with an automatic polyethylene tube cleaning and sanitation option. As the tube passes through the hose guide fork, three nozzles will clean and apply sanitation solution to the polyeth- ylene tube as it is rewound onto the spool of the machine.

    Step 1 - Turn the fuel supply on to the Booster Pump. Step 2 - Open the choke and turn the key on the booster pump control panel to start the pump. Once started close the choke. Prime Choke Booster Pump Fuel Supply P/N 19302390 Revised on 3/1/14, Kifco, Inc.

    Step 2 - Open the choke and turn the key to start the retraction engine. Once started close the choke. Let the engine run at an idle speed. Speed Adjustment Lever Choke Fuel Supply P/N 19302390 Revised on 3/1/14, Kifco, Inc.

    The Retract Stop switch on the control panel will only stop the Re- traction Engine. If this is needed, press and hold the Retract Stop switch until the retraction engine stops. P/N 19302390 Revised on 3/1/14, Kifco, Inc.

    This will allow the gear selection lever to engage the different speed range of the gearbox. Caution: Follow these steps precisely! Failure to do so will damage the gearbox! P/N 19302390 Revised on 3/1/14, Kifco, Inc.

    Step 5 - Once water runs clear from the generators, slowly throttle down the Booster Pump and turn off the key. Turn off the fuel to the Booster Pump. Step 6 - Close the main supply valve. P/N 19302390 Revised on 3/1/14, Kifco, Inc.

    Step 3 - Loosen the 6 bolts that con- 6 Bolts Loosened nect the trolley to the supply hose, but do not remove completely. Once loosened, water will begin to expel from the connection. P/N 19302390 Revised on 3/1/14, Kifco, Inc.
  • Page 21 Freezing will not damage the Polyethylene hard hose tube used on the Avi-FoamGuard. Even though the tube does not need to be drained you must follow the winterization instructions. P/N 19302390 Revised on 3/1/14, Kifco, Inc.

    Tightening the chains: Primary Chain: Adjustments are made by tightening/ loosening the adjustment screws connected to the roller (D). Secondary Chain: Loosen the right angle gearbox mounting bolts (item A) and adjust its position. P/N 19302390 Revised on 3/1/14, Kifco, Inc.
  • Page 23 Add a fuel stabilizer such as Stabil to both fuel tanks to prevent gunk from forming in the fuel system or on essential carburetor parts. Gearbox: The gearbox on the unit uses SAE90 oil. Change the oil in the gearbox once per year. P/N 19302390 Revised on 3/1/14, Kifco, Inc.
  • Page 24 The Retraction & Booster Pump Engines are both covered under original manufacturer’s warranty. Refer to these manufactures should you have engine problems. Lubrication: Lubricate your unit in the designated places as outlined below when performing quarterly maintenance. Use a water resistant grease for lubrication.
