2.3. Battery Management System (BMS)

The Battery Management System integrated into every AG POWER LITHIUM LiFePO4 battery monitors
and protects the battery from damage due to improper handling or incorrect parameters. In addition, the
BMS performs active internal cell balancing to always maintain maximum performance.
In detail, the tasks of the BMS are:
• Protection against overload due to excessive charging current or excessive discharging current.
• Protection against too high charge voltage or overvoltage.
• Protection against too low discharge.
• Protection against overtemperature.
• Protection against short circuit.
• Automatic cell balancing (equalization of the individual cells in the battery to be at the same
charge level).
If one of the aforementioned protections causes the cells to shut down and thus disconnect from the termi-
nals, no voltage can be measured at the terminals.
If the reason for disconnection no longer occurs, the battery switches on again automatically. Switching on
again after protection against excessive discharge can take up to several hours.

3. Installation / Maintenance / Storage

3.1. General information on installation / mounting position

• Please check the battery for external damage before installation. If there is any visible damage, do not
install or operate the battery! Please contact your vendor immediately.
• The battery must always be operated with an appropriate external fuse in the consumer circuit.
• The battery can be installed in an upright, standing or lying position.
• The battery must be firmly and securely installed in the vehicle or system, in motorhomes the existing
mounting can very often be used.
• The connection poles and terminals must be covered after installation to protect against short circuits,
existing round pole terminals can be used.
• Never connect batteries with consumers switched on to prevent sparking.
• Do not expose battery to direct sunlight and do not install indoors near heat sources.
• Charge before first use, during transport the battery is only charged to 40 - 60 %.
