Safety- In Case of Fire Instructions IMPORTANT: TO MAINTAIN GRAIN QUALITY AND AVOID RISK OF BIN FIRE, DRYING TEMPERATURE SHOULD NOT EXCEED 130 DEG. F FOR IN-BIN STIR DRYING OF CORN, OR 180 DEG. F FOR IN- BIN CONTINUOUS-FLOW SYSTEM. LOWER TEMPERATURE MAY BE REQUIRED DEPENDING UPON DRYING CONDITIONS.
HEATER SELECTION DETERMINE THE RIGHT SIZE FAN FOR YOUR BIN SIZE FIRST WARNING! Determining the correct size fan for the size of the bin, type of grain and needs, is the key to successful drying. Your heater selection only needs to match your fan size, fuel source at hand, and type of heater controls desired.
Page 13
CONTINUOUS FLOW DRYING. High-low or modulating valve (continuous flame) is recommend for high temperature continues flow drying. High-low burners cycle between high and low flame for more even temperature control. It is NOT for low temperature drying. BATCH-IN-BIN OR STIR DRYING: Thermostat, high-low or modulating valve units may be used for these styles of drying.
INSTALLATION, OPERATING, & MAINTENANCE SOLID STATE CONTROL HEATER FOR OPERATION WITH PROPANE VAPOR, PROPANE LIQUID, AND NATURAL GAS DANGER: THESE UNITS OPERATE WITH FLAMMABLE AND EXPLOSIVE GASES, IMPROPER INSTALLATION, OPERATION, OR MAINTENANCE CAN CREATE POTENTIAL DANGER. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY, AND OBEY ALL CAUTIONS AND WARNINGS.

Heaters Using Liquid Propane When the propane storage tank will not provide sufficient vapor to operate the heater continuously, a model with a preinstalled vaporizer should have been purchased. The purpose of the vaporizer is to convert the liquid propane to a vapor by using the heater flame to heat the propane. The dealer selling the heater usually knows if a vaporizer is needed, and should recommend a model that incorporates one.
Page 16
Upstream centrifugal heaters should be mounted on the inlet side of the centrifugal fan using the bracket kit (S187794), sold separately. See page 44 for assembly instructions for use of bracket kit. When using a high-temp heater in an upstream centrifugal configuration, never burn heater above 200 degrees (F).

MAINTENANCE KEEP ALL GUARDS AND SCREENS IN PLACE DISCONNECT ALL POWER SOURCES BEFORE DOING ANY REPAIR, MAINTENANCE OR INSPECTIONS! BEGINNING OF EACH DRYING SEASON: Remove inlet screen. With power off, check for foreign material on fan blade. Turn fan by hand to be sure it rotates freely.
NOTES ON LOW TEMPERATURE DRYING LOW TEMPERATURE DRYING: Low temperature drying is used to achieve a 25% drop in relative humidity. Raising the outside temperature (ambient) by no more than 10 degrees, when using an axial or centrifugal fan producing 2/3 to 3 cfm per bushel, and a Super –Low heater will achieve this. Keep in mind, we suggest a grain spreader for your bin and this type of drying should be in a situation where you are using your bin to dry one full bin per year (not for continuous flow drying).
Page 20
second fill is three points or more drier than the initial fill, add layers equal to the initial fill depth every 7-10 days until the bin is full. Continue to operate the fan and heater until grain is dry- or average temperature dips below 30 degrees F and the average moisture content is 18% or less.
AUTOMATIC CONTROLS FOR USE WITH DRYING HEATERS MODEL TC-100, TC-400, & HT-3000 THERMOSTAT CONTROL WARNING! Although these controls are called “automatic”, they do not sample the grain for proper moisture content! They are designed to cycle the heater on and off to the set of conditions that you select. RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE GRAIN CONDITION IS YOURS! SHIPPING, RECEIVING AND INSPECTION All cardboard cartons are shipped attached to heater, with power cord installed.
Page 23
THERMOSTAT CONTROL OPERATING INSTRUCTION (TC-100 & TC-400) WARNING! This automatic control is more simply stated as an automatic switch. The control merely switches the heater on and off. It does NOT adjust the heater gas pressure to changing ambient temperatures or changing airflows. This is YOUR responsibility! The TC-100 and TC-400 contains an automatic thermostat with a temperature range from 70 degrees F (21 C) to 200 degrees F (93 C).
Page 24
COMBINATION THERMOSTAT/HUMIDISTAT (HT-3000) The HT-3000 contains a thermostat and humidistat. The controls are wired in series and will over-ride each other when they are “satisfied”. The HT-3000 is designed to activate the heater only when additional heat is needed to provide adequate drying.
Page 25
Set humidistat knob for relative humidity, above which you wish to add supplemental heat to the drying air. The thermostat setting overrides the humidistat setting in the event the bin temperature exceeds the thermostat setting, thus acting as a high limit. Whenever shutting down your fan &...
SOLID STATE HIGH-LOW FIRE THERMOSTAT DUAL SOLENOIDS WITH L.E.D. DISPLAY WARNING! This control does not sample the grain for proper moisture content!
Page 27
OPERATING INSTRUCTION WARNING! This automatic control is more simply stated as an automatic switch. The control merely switches the heater on and off. It does NOT adjust the heater gas pressure to changing ambient temperatures or changing airflows. This is YOUR responsibility! The thermostat is programmed at the factory to operate with your heater.
Page 28
After determining your temperature setting, and adjusting thermostat to reflect that, you are ready to begin. 1. Start fan and heater according to separate instruction in respective manuals. There will be a 45 second delay as the fan purges the heater of any fuel vapors. 2.
Page 29
If the heater still will not fire, the problem may not be related to the Thermostat. Review the trouble shooting guide on pages 33-35. Heater Fires But Does Not Cycle Off or Has A Long Cycle: Adjust gas pressure setting just high enough to satisfy the low-fire side of thermostat. Too low of gas flow will cause the heater to burn longer.
MODULATING GAS VALVE RANGE 90 – 210 DEGREES (F) WARNING! The modulating gas valve is designed to fluctuate with the heaters fuel source to maintain the temperature that you select. RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE GRAIN CONDITION IS YOURS! APPLICATION The modulating valve is intended to automatically control the flow of gas to your heater.
Page 31
INITIAL STARTUP To set modulating valve at the start of the drying season: NOTE: The valve and heater were tested at the factory and pre-set to as close to 120 degrees as allowed in relation to that day’s current ambient temperature. You still need to adjust gas pressure and modulating valve to reach your desired range for your crop.
Page 32
Can Not Reach Desired Temperature: If maximum desired temperature cannot be reached then the regulator valve may be set too low and should be increased. Caution- use only small changes since the effect of this valve is only known when the modulation valve is calling for full heat.

Page 34
→SOLENOIDS CHATTER WHEN ENGERIZED In rare cases, solenoids have been known to chatter (open and close rapidly). This could be interference from the transformer located on the control board. If this occurs, lightly pull all wires from the control board away from control board transformer and zip tie off to one side. →BURNER IGNITES, BUT LOCKS OUT IN 10-20 SECONDS Look for cracked porcelain on flame-sensing rod.
Page 35
→ SPARK PLUG FOWLING, CARBON BUILD UP Carbon build up is a symptom of poor air moment. The heater has been designed to have two locations for the spark plug. From the factory, the plug is mounted in the optimum location for spark in clean air.
