    This document is intended to help customers or partners with the initial configuration of Vectra M29 appliances. This is limited to basic network connectivity. The M29 appliance is used in place of a virtual machine for Vectra Stream deployment. From a pairing perspective, the M29 functions similarly to other Vectra physical Sensors. The Vectra Platform Quick Start Guide covers basic firewall rules needed, initial Brain GUI settings, and pairing of physical Sensors.

The M29 does not utilized the capture ports. The M29 receives metadata from the Brain, coverts it to Zeek format, and forwards it to the customer’s data lake.

  • Page 5 Use SSH to connect using the default credentials from above iDRAC/IPMI The M29 has a Dell iDRAC interface. The default username / password is “vectra” / “changethispassword”.   • Page 6 SSH using the “vectra” username and the password you have configured or the default password if you have not changed it yet. If your M29 already has an IP from DHCP, you can change to static assignment using the instructions below.

    Vectra M29 Stream Appliance Quick Start Guide Verifying DNS Configuration show dns Verifying your Connectivity: Once you have configured an IP statically or via DHCP you can verify connectivity by pinging known IPs in your environment. If the Brain is configured with an IP, it is recommended to ping the Brain IP to verify reachability before attempting pairing.
