Hard Drive Carriers
Each hard drive carrier has two indicators:
Status: The upper status indicator is green during normal operation. When the status flashes red, this
indicates the drive is rebuilding. When the status is solid red, it indicates a drive failure.
Activity: The lower activity indicator flashes amber to indicate drive activity.
To replace a hard drive carrier:
1. On the front of the device, find the
release tab located on the right side of
the hard drive you want to replace. The
failed drive status indicator will be solid
red.
2. Pull the tab outward to release the
hinged arm on the hard drive.
3. Pull the hard drive out of the slot.
4. On the replacement hard drive, open the
hinged arm.
5. Slide the replacement hard drive into the
slot.
6. Push until the hard drive is flush with the
front of the XCS device. Then close the
hinged arm to lock the drive into place.
