With automatic tailgate operation
Opening
General information
When towing a trailer or when the rear luggage
rack is mounted, the tailgate cannot be opened
with the remote control or with the button in
the driver's door.
Adjusting the opening height
You can set how far the tailgate should open.
When adjusting the opening height, ensure that
there is a clearance of at least 4 in/10 cm above
the tailgate.
Via the onboard monitor:
1.
"Settings"
2.
"Tailgate"
3.
Turn the controller until the desired open‐
ing height is selected.
4.
Press the controller.
From the outside
Without Comfort Access: unlock vehicle.
With Comfort Access: unlock the vehicle or
have the remote control with you.
Press button next on tailgate.
Press and hold button on the re‐
mote control for approx. 1 second.
If the vehicle is stationary, the tailgate opens
automatically to the adjusted opening height.
Opening and closing

From the inside
With Steptronic transmission:
Pull button in the storage compartment
of the driver's door upward.
If the vehicle is locked, selector lever position P
must be engaged first.
With manual transmission:
With the vehicle stationary, pull the but‐
ton in the storage compartment of the driver's
door upward twice in quick succession.
Interruption of the opening procedure
The opening procedure is interrupted in the fol‐
lowing situations:
When the vehicle starts moving.
By pressing the button on the outside of
the tailgate.
By pressing the button on the inside of the
tailgate.
By pressing the button on the remote con‐
trol.
By pressing or pulling the button in the
storage compartment of the driver's door.
Closing
From the outside
Press the button on tailgate's exterior.
From the inside
Press and hold the button in the storage
compartment of the driver's door.
The remote control must be located in the inte‐
rior for this function.
From inside the tailgate
