Please read this guide before attempting to configure the VSP715. Some of the configuration tasks described in this chapter are duplicated in the Web User Interface (WebUI) described in the next chapter, but if you need to assign static IP addresses, they must be set at each device.

A switched network topology is recommended for your LAN (using standard 10/100 Ethernet switches that carry traffic at a nominal rate of 100 Mbit/s). An LDAP directory is hosted on a remote server and may be the central directory for a large organization spread across several cities, offices, and departments. You can configure the phone to access the directory and allow users to search the directory for names and telephone numbers.
