General Information The products described in this Operation Manual are manufactured or distributed by Reliance Electric Limited. The PSC Console PC-2 (hereinafter called "PSC Console) is used for monitoring, setting and modifying various data to be required for the PSC3000/PSC4000/ PSC5000 Programmable Servo Control System.
HAPTER Description of the PSC Console This chapter describes the functions that can be performed by the PSC Console, and the components of the PSC Console. ATTENTION: Only qualified personnel who have read and understood all applicable PSC3000, PSC4000 or PSC5000 manuals and are fully familiar with the particular application can set and/or modify the attribute data of the PSC3000, PSC4000 or PSC5000 controller.

Description of Main Components This section describes the main components of the PSC Console shown in Figure 2.1. 2.3.1 Display The display consists of 20 characters x 4 lines and each character consists of 5 x 7 dots. 2.3.2 Keyboard Figure 2.2 shows the key arrangement of the PSC Console keyboard.
2.3.3 Reset Switch As shown in Figure 2.1, there is a switch called "Reset Switch" at the left lower corner on the rear side of the PSC Console. Pushing the Reset Switch with a thin bar like needle will initialize the PSC Console. 2.3.4 Interface Cable and Connectors Communication between the PSC Console and the PSC3000, PSC4000 or PSC5000 System is performed through the interface cable and the connectors.
HAPTER Preparation before Using the PSC Console This chapter describes connection of the PSC Console to the PSC3000, PSC4000 or PSC5000 System and the standard setting for operation of the PSC Console. Standard Settings for Operation of the PSC Console ATTENTION: Changing the settings of the PSC Console may cause malfunction of the system. Exercise extreme caution when the setting of the PSC Console must be changed. Note that the settings of the PSC Console will be maintained even when the power to the Console is disconnected.

Operation of the PSC Console in the RUN Mode The RUN Mode must be selected for normal operation of the PSC3000, PSC4000 or PSC5000 System. This section describes the selection method of the RUN Mode and the keys that can be used in the RUN Mode. 4.2.1 Selection of the RUN Mode To select the RUN Mode of the PSC Console, press the RUN key.
Operation of the PSC Console in the MONITOR Mode The MONITOR Mode must be selected to monitor the values of the control variables. This section describes how to select the MONITOR Mode and how to operate the PSC Console in the MONITOR Mode. 4.3.1 Selection of the MONITOR Mode To select the MONITOR Mode of the PSC Console, press the MONITOR key.
4.3.3 Key Operations and Displays in the MONITOR Mode This section describes various key operations in the MONITOR Mode and the displays obtained as a result of such key operations. 4.3.3.1 To Display Control Variable When you press the MON key, "M" will appear in the display as shown below. Operation of the PSC Console in the PROGRAM Mode The PROGRAM Mode is used for displaying, setting and modifying the attribute data. This section describes the selection method of the PROGRAM Mode and the operation of the PSC Console in this mode. 4.4.1 Selection of the PROGRAM Mode Press the PROGRAM key to select the PROGRAM Mode.
4.4.3 Key Operations and Displays in the PROGRAM Mode This section describes various key operations in the PROGRAM Mode and the displays to be obtained as a result of such key operations. 4.4.3.1 To Display Attribute Data When you press the DATA key, "D" will appear in the System Line of the display as shown below (for the System Line, refer to the figure in Section 4.4.1).

To modify an attribute data, first enter the desired figure. The entered figure will be shown in the Attribute Data Setting/Modifying Line of the display. After verifying that the entered figure is correct, press the ENTER key. If the entered figure is incorrect, press the CLR key and then enter the correct figure.

4.4.3.4 To Discontinue Modification of Attribute Data When you desire to discontinue modification of the attribute data, press the ENTER key without entering any number; i.e., pressing the CLR ENTER keys discontinues modification. 4.4.3.5 To Scroll Attribute Data When you desire to monitor the attribute data by scrolling, use the following procedure.
PPENDIX Error Messages The following shows the error messages to be displayed on the PSC Console. When such error messages appear, take the corrective actions in accordance with the following instructions. Error Message: TRANSFER FAILED Causes • A communication error occurred when the PSC Console was connected to or disconnected from the PSC3000/PSC4000/PSC5000 System.
