1. Sicherheitshinweise 1.1 Allgemeine Regeln. Bei sachgemäßer Handhabung sind Lithiumbatterien eine sichere und zuver- lässige Form der Energiespeicherung. Im Gegensatz zu herkömmlichen Bat- terien weisen Lithiumbatterien eine viel höhere Energiedichte auf und können bei der Freisetzung von Energie höhere Temperaturen erreichen. Gehen Sie daher beim Betrieb der Batterien vorsichtig vor. - Page 5 Dieses Kennzeichen warnt vor Verletzungsgefah- ren für Sie und andere. Achtung: • Öffnen Sie nicht das Gehäuse der Batterie: • Der Elektrolyt ist stark ätzend. Ein Kontakt mit dem Elektrolyt kann durch ein offenes Gehäuse nicht aus- geschlossen werden. • Das Staub- und Wasserdichtigkeitslevel IP67(Schutz gegen das Eindringen von Flüssigkeiten) wird nur mit geschlossenem Gehäuse erfüllt.

2. Produktbeschreibung 2.1 Beschreibung Die Bronson Outdoor MBL Lithium Batterie wurde speziell für anspruchsvolle Einsätze im Marine- und Outdoorbereich entwickelt. Die äußerst langlebigen Gehäuse sind staub- und wasserfest (Schutzklasse IP67). Trotz hoher Ener- giedichte sind sie sehr leicht und einfach zu transportieren. 3. Inbetriebnahme 3.1 Installation Wasserdichter Motoranschluss (MB Plug) Bei vielen herkömmlichen Batterien für den Außenbereich bezieht sich der IP67 Schutz ausschließlich auf das Produkt selbst. Für die Schnittstelle zum Motor werden meistens herkömmliche Klemmen verwendet, die diesen Schutz nicht bieten. Um diese Gefahrenquelle auszuschließen bietet Bronson Out- door eine besondere Schnittstelle für alle Bronson Outdoor Batterien an, die einen vollumfänglichen Wasserschutz nach IP67 gewährleisten, den MB Plug. Die Selbstverriegelung des Steckers schließt ein versehentliches Herauszie- hen aus. - Page 13 Lege 5mm des Motorkabels frei. Schraube den Stecker auseinander. Fädel das Motorkabel in der richtigen Reihenfolge ein. Nutzen sie die passende Dichtung.

3.2 Gebrauch Die MBL Lithium Batterie ist einfach in der Handhabung. Stellen Sie sicher, dass die Batterie gegen Verrutschen oder Kippen gesichert ist. Es empfiehlt sich die Batterie so zu platzieren, dass Sie den Ladestand der Batterie über die LED Anzeige ablesen können. Hinweis: Wenn Sie nicht auf der höchsten Geschwindigkeitsstufe Ihres Außen- borders fahren, können Sie die Fahrzeit deutlich verlängern. Achtung: Schalten Sie die Motordrossel immer aus, nachdem die Batterie in den Tiefentladungs-, Überstrom-, Temperatur- oder Kurz- schlussschutzmodus geschaltet wurde. Auf diese Weise wird verhindert, dass die Batterie versehentlich neu gestartet wird, während die Motordrossel aktiviert ist, wodurch der Motor sofort mit Strom versorgt und der Propeller unerwartet aktiviert wird. -

Diese ist im Lieferumfang des Ladegeräts enthalten. • Vermeiden Sie eine Tiefentladung auf 0% um die Batterielebens- dauer und die Arbeitskapazität zu maximieren. Lassen Sie die Batterie nach einer Tiefentladung auf 0% nicht vollständig entladen, sondern versuchen Sie Zeitnah den Akku mindestens teilweise wieder aufzuladen. Achtung: Laden Sie die Batterie nur bei Umgebungstemperaturen zwi- schen maximal 0 ºC bis 45 ºC. - Page 17 mit vielen intelligenten Funktionen ausgestattet, um Ihnen maximale Sicher- heit und Benutzerfreundlichkeit zu bieten. Während des Auf- und Entladens verteilt das BMS die Ladung auf alle Zellen der Batterie, um die maximale Kapazität über die Lebensdauer der Batterie sicherzustellen. Im regulären Betrieb zeigt die Batterie den aktuellen Ladezustand auf der 5-LED-Anzeige an. Jede LED repräsentiert einen Ladestand von ungefähr 20%, wobei 5 LEDs = 100% und 1 LED = 20% sind. Wenn die Batterie we- niger als 10% Ladestand hat, beginnt die letzte LED zu blinken, um Sie zu warnen, dass sie bald vollständig entladen sein wird. Achtung: Stellen Sie sicher, dass Sie nicht zu weit von Ihrem Ziel entfernt sind, wenn die Batterie die letzten 20% anzeigt.
- Page 18 Temperaturschwellen zwischen -20 ºC bis +75ºC überschreitet, wechselt sie in den Schutz-Abschaltmodus, der durch Blinken der 5 LEDs ange- zeigt wird. Die Batterie kann neu gestartet werden, nachdem sie wieder auf eine normale Arbeitstemperatur gebracht wurde. Schutz vor Kurzschlüssen: Die Batterie schaltet sich automatisch ab, wenn ein Kurzschluss auftritt - dies kann entweder ein interner Kurz- schluss des Batteriepacks oder ein Kurzschluss in den angeschlossenen Stromkabeln oder dem Elektromotor sein. Der Schutz-Abschaltmodus wird durch Blinken der 5 LEDs angezeigt. Schutzfunktionen während des Ladens: Überspannungsschutz: Die Batterie schaltet sich automatisch ab, wenn eine zu hohe Ladespannung anliegt.

3.5 Pflege, Lagerung und Wartung Die MBL Lithium Batterie kann mit handelsüblichen Reinigungsmitteln, die für Kunstoff geeignet sind gereinigt werden. Reinigen Sie die Batterie immer mit geschlossenem Deckel. Es dürfen keine Flüssigkeiten in das Innere der Bat- terie gelangen. Unlike traditional batteries, lithium batteries have much higher energy densities and can reach higher temperatures in the release of energy, so care must be used when operating and installing them. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the Bronson Outdoor MBL Lithium Battery for the first time. To avoid property damage and personal injury, pay particular attention to the listed warnings and safety instructions. Please understand that Mangrove GmbH (Owner of Bronson Outdoor) cannot be held liable for any damage caused by acts contrary to this manual. • The manufacturer‘s instructions are to be observed. Transport Instructions • The MBL Lithium battery may not be carried by hand as carry-on luggage or in the cargo hold of passenger aircraft. • The battery is declared dangerous goods of UN Class 9 (UN3480). Shipping via transport companies must be in their original packa- ging. Commercial transport is only allowed in original packaging. If transport is arranged without the original packaging, please ensure a suitable enclosure and that the outer packaging be marked with the relevant transportation warnings regarding Class 9 dangerous goods (UN 3480).

- Page 30 2. Product Description 2.1 Description The Bronson Outdoor MBL Lithium Battery is specifically designed for deman- ding marine and outdoor use. The extremely durable housings are dust and water resistant (protection class IP67). Despite their high energy density, they are very light and easy to transport. With durable, corrosion-free hinges and a sturdy fold-out handle, the battery can be comfortably carried over longer distances. The overview of the most important features: • Light: Despite strong performance, the battery weighs only a fraction of a conventional lead-acid battery. • Durable: With at least 2000 charge cycles to reach 80% of original capacity, the MBL Lithium battery is significantly more durable than a traditional gel or acid battery. • Efficient: Less energy is wasted in both the charging and dischar- ging cycles of Bronson Lithium batteries reducing wasted electricity. • Robust: The extremely durable outdoor housings are dust and water resistant (protection class IP67). • Temperature resistant: The battery has an operational temperature range from -20 ºC to +75 ºC, and therefore usable in almost every region and every season, for ideal performance and longevity of the battery try to keep away from extreme heat or cold when operating. • USB connection: While using the battery, another device can be connected and charged in parallel.

- Page 33 3.1 Installation watertight motor connection (MB Plug) For many conventional outdoor batteries, the IP67 protection only applies to the product itself. The interface to the motor usually uses conventional ter- minals that do not provide this protection. To eliminate this source of danger, Bronson Outdoor offers a unique interface for all Bronson Outdoor batteries that provide full IP67 water protection, the MB Plug. - Page 36 3.2 Use The MBL lithium battery is easy to handle. Make sure the MBL lithium battery is secured against slipping or tilting. It is advisable to place the battery so that you can read the battery charge level via the LED display. Note: If you are not driving at the highest speed setting on your outboard, you can significantly increase your driving time. Caution: Always disengage the motor throttle after the battery enters into deep-discharge, over-current, temperature or short-cir- cuit protection mode. Doing so will help to avoid accidentally restarting the battery while the motor throttle is engaged which would provide instant power to the motor and engage the pro- peller unexpectedly.

To maximize the battery life and working capacity - do not leave it in a totally depleted state after deep discharges. After a deep discharge to 0%, try to recharge the battery at least to a partial level of charge. Caution: Only charge the battery at ambient temperatures between 0 °C to 45 °C maximum. To maximize battery life, we recommend charging the battery between 10 ºC and 25 ºC if possible. Note: In order to increase the life of the battery, charge it frequently and avoid running it down to the 100% discharge state when possible.

When your battery has less than 10% charge remaining, the final LED will start blin- king to warn you that it will soon be completely depleted and will shut down. Note: Make sure that you are not too far away from your destination, when the battery shows the last 20%. When potentially dangerous conditions are detected, the battery will shut down automatically to ensure safety. The BMS functions are described in detail below: Shutdown Protections while in use: • Over-Current Protection: The battery is designed to protect itself and your connected motor in the case of high current draws (Am- peres), this could be due to a failure or obstruction of your motors propeller (such as weeds, fishing line, etc.) - in this case the bat- tery will shut down automatically when the current reaches unsafe levels, thereby protecting your battery and motor against damage from high current levels. All 5 LEDs will blink and the battery will shut down. Clear the propeller for any obstructions and restart the battery with the power ON/OFF switch. The continuous current shut- down level is 65A. • Deep Discharge Protection: The battery shuts off automatically when it has been fully discharged. The user will see the final LED light flashing when the capacity is less than 10%, and when fully depleted the battery will shut itself down to protect itself from deep discharging. • Critical Temperature Threshold Protection: Under ideal conditions for the life expectancy of the battery, it should be operated in mode- rate temperature conditions, avoiding extreme cold and high heat - where possible shield the battery pack from direct sunlight to reduce...
- Page 39 • Protection against short circuits: The battery shuts off automatically should a short circuit occur - this could be either an internal short circuit of the battery pack or a short circuit in the connected power cables or electric motor. In the case of a short circuit, the battery will go into shutdown mode with 5 LEDs blinking. Shutdown Protections while being charged: • Overvoltage protection: The battery switches off automatically if too high a charging voltage is applied, indicated by the 5 LEDs blinking. (Under normal charging conditions using Bronson Outdoor chargers this should never occur.) • Over Charge Protection: The battery shuts off automatically when fully charged. (note that Bronson Outdoor chargers are designed to optimally charge your battery and stop charging when the battery is fully charged - however in the case of a charger malfunction your...

- Page 41 3.5 Care, Storage and Maintenance The MBL lithium battery can be cleaned with commercially available cleaning agents that are suitable for plastics. Always clean the battery with the lid clo- sed, do not allow liquids to enter the inside of the battery. The battery should be washed after the usage, if it got in contact with salted water. Caution: • Avoid long term storage at 100% full charge level. Unlike lead acid batteries, this can seriously degrade the available capacity of the lithium battery. Instead charge to between 30% to 50% only if the battery is to be left unused for a longer duration.

- Page 43 • In the case of a guarantee, the warranty period does not change. • Warranty services are not transferable. • Products and parts subject to warranty and replacement become the property of Bronson Outdoor. • Bronson Outdoor decides whether faulty parts are repaired or replaced. • In the event of an improperly requested warranty repair or replace- ment with a product such as a product component, Bronson Out- door reserves the right to charge the costs incurred if no defect or breach of the warranty is found. • In the case of a guarantee, the warranty period does not change. • Warranty services are not transferable. The warranty for series products ends 24 months from the date of delivery of the product to the end user. Warranty claims must be reported to Bronson Outdoor Service as soon as they occur. The warranty expires six months after discovery of the defect. These warranty conditions are without prejudice to the seller‘s warranty obliga- tions under the purchase contract with the end user. Sellers and dealers have no authority to make legally binding statements to Bronson Outdoor, even if you perform repair work on Bronson Outdoor products.
