2-5-9-2 Wiring for Mixed Series and Parallel Connection

(Example of Control Category 4 Wiring)
This method is used to connect multiple emitters and receivers facing each other in a combina-
tion of parallel and series connections. This connection method is used when there are two or
more dangerous parts of the machine and two or more paths of approach. A total of up to 5 sets
can be connected in a combination of series and parallel connections, with a maximum of 5 sets
connected in series, or a maximum of 3 sets connected in parallel. Maximum total of 144 beam
channels. In a series connection, the control output (OSSD 1 / 2) turns OFF regardless of which
set is in the light-blocked state. In a parallel connection, the control output (OSSD 1 / 2) turns
OFF only on sets in the light-blocked state.
● To use a series connection, you must use the special-use SFD-CSL□ series connection cables
to connect emitters to emitters and receivers to receivers as shown on the following page. Risk
of death or serious injury if a non-sensing area is created due incorrect connection.
● When connecting in parallel, connect the interference prevention wire of each receiver and its
paired emitter as shown on the following page. Risk of death or serious injury if a non-sensing
area is created due to incorrect connection.
