    2.5.1 Failure of the SKATE trailing shoe spreader Be aware of the residual mechanical and hydraulic energy on components of the SKATE trailing shoe spreader and the pressure in the hydraulic cylinders after the device has been shut down following an emergency, or after the attachment is turned off.

    Safety instructions 2.12 Safety and protective devices The attachment is equipped with the following safety and protective devices: 2.12.1 Emergency stop device This device shuts down the towing vehicle (tractor) in the event of an emergency. When the drive motor of the towing vehicle is turned off, all drives and the power supply of the trailer are switched off immediately.

Applications The Fliegl SKATE is a trailing shoe spreader for ground-level strip application of liquid farm fertilisers such as slurry, manure or digestate. Specially designed slit shoes enable effective injection of the substrate.

    Objective The SKATE trailing shoe spreader must be attached to the tank trailer before use. For this purpose, the SKATE is affixed to the rear of the tank trailer with suitable fastening aids. The necessary connections are then established. Prerequisites Installing the control element in the towing vehicle (see section 7.1)

    Assembly and installation Preparing for attachment Before attaching the trailing shoe spreader to the tank trailer, the latter must be secured against rolling away. To do so, you must connect the towing vehicle to the tank trailer. Apply the parking brake of the towing vehicle incl. the tank trailer. Place wheel chocks under the wheels of the tank trailer.

  • Page 44 Assembly and installation Step 5 There is a hole for the eyebolt on the left mounting lug. Secure the eyebolt with a self-locking nut (outside) and lock it with another nut on the inside. The distance from the inside of the mounting lug to the end of the eyelet should be 87 mm. The eyebolt should be secured with the lower opening angled slightly back.

    Assembly and installation 4.8.4 Attaching the hydraulic lines to the spreader In the next step, the hydraulic lines must be installed and attached. Attach the hydraulic lines to the lift cylinders. Connect the hydraulic connections to the discharge valve on the tank trailer. The discharge valve must be a double-action model.

    Assembly and installation 4.8.5 Pendulum frame, hydraulic (SKATE 210 / SKATE 240) Using a tractor control unit, the load on the pendulum frame can either be relieved (allowing it to hang freely) or it can be centred (fixed position).     Assembly and installation 4.12.1 Checking the running direction of the screw conveyors Oil is supplied to the screw motors via a valve on the control block; see 4.8.1 to 4.8.3. The oil motors are connected in series (in line). The screw conveyors (oil motors) are actuated via the control block on the spreader. The responsible valve is energised alternately by the wiring harness, which is connected to the control unit (controller).

    Start-up 5. Start-up First-time start-up Without a correct start-up in accordance with these operating instructions, the operational safety of the attachment is not guaranteed. This can lead to accidents resulting in serious injury or death. All setting and adjusting tasks must be performed for first-time start-up. Before starting work, the operator must familiarise himself with all actuating devices and their function.

    The engine of the tractor must be running. In the case of an open-centre system (constant flow), the control unit to which the Skate block is connected must also be actuated to ensure the oil supply to the control block. The control unit must be connected.

    Control Operating the controller 7.5.1 Extending the spreader The right switch initially lights up RED.  The spreader is locked. To extend the spreader, you must first release it using the button. The right switch then lights up GREEN. You must then extend the spreader within 5 seconds, otherwise the spreader will be locked again.

(ONLY TAP THE BUTTON) The lift cylinders move into floating position, the discharge valve opens automatically and the screw conveyors begin to rotate. The right switch flashes BLUE.     Control 7.5.4 Retracting To retract the spreader, you must first tap the button so that the discharge valve is closed. Then keep the button depressed until the spreader lowers itself into transport position. After it has been retracted, the spreader is locked again and the right switch lights up RED.

This means that the outer elements are not extended, the corresponding slurry gate valves close and the oil motors for the outside screw conveyors are not actuated.
