6.5.1

1-sided mode

• For the paper feed operation in the 1-sided mode, see "6.5.2 2-sided mode".
• Reading of the back side of the original by the CIS is not done in the 1-sided mode. All
other paper feed operations in the 1-sided mode are the same as those in the 2-sided
mode.

1. Pressing the start key will lift up the feed tray and press the reading roller 1.
2. The take-up motor is energized when the lift-up operation of the feed tray is com-
pleted.
3. The take-up clutch is energized after the take-up motor has been energized. Then,
the drive of the take-up motor is connected, so that the pick-up roller and feed roller
are rotated to start feeding the first original.
4. The original is transported to the conveyance roller. When the conveyance roller
sensor detects the leading edge of the original, the take-up clutch is deenergized to
shut down the drive for the feed roller.
5. The drive of the take-up motor rotates the conveyance roller, so that the original is
transported onto the registration roller.
6. When the registration sensor detects the leading edge of the original, a loop is
formed in the original.
After the lapse of a predetermined period of time, the take-up motor is deener-
gized, thus shutting down the drive for the conveyance roller.
7. After the loop has been formed in the original, the registration motor is energized.
The take-up motor is energized at the same time. The drive of the registration
motor rotates the registration roller, so that the original is transported onto the read-
ing section.
8. The reading motor is energized after the lapse of a predetermined period of time
after the registration motor has been energized.
The drive of the reading motor rotates reading roller 1, reading roller 2, and reading
roller 3.
9. After the before read sensor has detected the leading edge of the original, the exit
motor is energized. The drive of the exit motor rotates the exit roller.
