I started my pool up and was having no issues at first. Now the de will not cling to the filter and the pressure drops in an hour. When we open it the de is still white and on the bottom. The filters look fine. We have two. No holes. Do they need to be cleaned differently. We always just rinse them. Both filters are doing this though.

Possible causes for the AquaTools AT8230 filter losing pressure and not retaining DE during pool startup include:

1. Improper or insufficient precoat – The filter requires 6 lbs. (2.7 kg) of DE for an adequate precoat.
2. Filter module is dirty or plugged – A clogged module can affect performance; it should be thoroughly cleaned.
3. Too much DE – Excess DE can clog the filter module.
4. Flow rate too high – Flow should be restricted to the rated capacity of the filter.
5. Use of incorrect chemicals with PHMB sanitizers – This may require replacing the filter module.

Each of these conditions can interfere with DE retention and proper pressure levels during startup.
