introDuction & sPecification
the sB973.V3 shot blasting cabinet is constructed of steel with a replaceable viewing screen and internal illumination. supplied with a shot
blasting gun the unit is suitable for glass beads, silicon carbide, aluminium oxide and silica sand. excellent for use in a wide variety of
workshop and bodyshop cleaning applications. the cabinet requires a standard, clean, dry, workshop air supply.

3.
air suPPly & asseMbly
3.1
air suPPly (for recommended hook-up see diagram).
3.1.1 You will require an air pressure of 80psi, and an air volume of at least 5cfm to operate the unit efficiently.
3.1.2  Warning! Ensure air supply is clean, dry and does not exceed 100psi. Too high an air pressure and/or unclean or damp air
will shorten the product life due to excessive wear and may be dangerous, causing possible damage and/or personal injury.
3.1.3 drain the air supply tank daily. clean compressor air inlet filter weekly.
3.1.4 line pressure should be increased to compensate for unusually long air hoses (over 8 metres). the minimum hose and fittings bore
should be 10mm.
3.1.5 Keep hoses away from heat, oil and sharp edges. check airline hoses for wear and poor connections.
3.1.6 cabinet input connection is 1/4"BsP.
3.2
asseMbly
3.2.1 unpack the product and check contents. should there be any damaged or missing parts contact your supplier immediately.
3.2.2 lift the back edge of the mesh grille (31) and slide it up the back of the cabinet into a vertical position.
3.2.3 Push plastic suction hose (23) onto the connector (24B) in the base of the unit. return the
mesh grille to its horizontal position ensuring that the hose passes the angled corner of the grille
(see parts diagram). Do not push the tube through the grille.
3.2.4 remove fitting (28) and one steel washer (27) from air hose connector (22),
leaving on one steel washer (27). Put connector (22) through hole in side of
cabinet and secure with washer (27) and fitting (28).
note: numbers in brackets refer to item numbers shown
in the Parts list.
4.
oPerating instructions
Warning! ensure you read, understand and apply safety instructions in section 1 before using the unit.
4.1
connect the air supply to the inlet on the side of the cabinet. ensure the gun valve is in the "off" position before connecting the air supply.
4.2
check all fittings to ensure there are no air leaks.
4.3
Pour the abrasive media into the centre of the cabinet. Do not use more than 40lbs. excessive amounts of abrasive will impair visibility,
create poor blasting performance and could block the air exhaust.
4.4
fit suitably sized jet and nozzle into the gun bore and retain with the set screws.
4.5
connect to the mains supply and the unit is ready for use.
4.6
Place the workpiece in the cabinet and close the lid and latch securely.
Warning! failure to securely close the lid could result in damage and/or personal injury.
4.7
turn on light and air supply and insert hands into cabinet gloves. Grasp gun and depress the trigger to start the blasting process.
4.8
move the blast media (which looks like steam) continuously over the workpiece in an even and circular motion. to avoid undesirable
peening the flow should not be too hard or concentrated. the surface finish may vary from coarse to fine depending on the size of the
abrasive media. on delicate workpieces, to avoid unnecessary peening or excessive abrasion, begin the blasting with a low airflow.
5.
Maintenance
Warning! ensure the cabinet is disconnected from the electrical mains and the air supply before attempting any maintenance.
5.1
ensure the blasting media does not become damp. Keep the air supply dry at all times. dispose of any damp media.
5.2
replace media when it has become excessively dusty, loses its granular or spherical appearance, or is significantly contaminated
with debris from workpieces. this is usually noticed when media from the nozzle looks like a smoke cloud rather than steam.
5.3
regularly check that the exhaust vents at the side and rear of the cabinet are clear. renew air filter (13) if clogged.
5.4
regularly check gun blast nozzle to ensure it does not become blocked with media. immediately replace worn or damaged nozzle.
5.5
if abrasive pick-up hose becomes blocked, cover the gun tip to force air back through the hose. ensure the lid is correctly closed.
5.6
replace the transparent window when visibility becomes reduced.
6. troubleshooting
