Always hold the sander off the work piece when turning the switch on or off. Run the sander for a few seconds before contacting the work piece and remove it from the work piece before turning the switch off. Contact the work piece with minimal pressure. If the sander is not removing enough material, try a heavier grit piece of sandpaper. -
