[FAQ] How to change the operating mode and

This FAQ is applied to the below Edimax AP.

Note: There are five modes on EW-7478APC and AP mode is the factory default mode on the device. The
instructions below are to guide you to change the AP mode to another mode you wish to use.
Before configure your EW-7478APC
1. Connect your PC to one of the yellow LAN ports labeled 1,2,3,4 on the back of the device using an
Ethernet cable.
2. Set a static IP address on your computer.

- Page 2 3. Set a temporary static IPv4 address, subnet mask, default gateway and an IP address for DNS server as shown below. Then, click the OK button.
- Page 3 Access the setting page 1. Open your web browser and go to the URL (http://edimax.setup) to configure or change the operation mode and settings on your device. Note: To access the device, you can also use the default IP address (http://192.168.2.1).
- Page 4 Use Setup Wizard to configue your EW-7478APC 1. On the left side of the page, click on Setup Wizard. 2. On the Setup Wizard page, click the Run Wizard button.
- Page 5 3. Click the Next button. 4. On this page, you can back up the current settings if necessary. If so, click the Backup the settings button or else, click the Next button.
- Page 6 5. Click the Reset to Default button. 5-1. When the warning description pops up, click the OK button to continue. 5-2. Please note that do not turn off the device during the process of resetting the device. Click the OK button to continue.
- Page 7 6. Wait for the process of resetting the device to finish. 6-1. After the counting down, the setting page shows the completion message. Your device is reset to factory defaults now. Close the web browser and move on to the next step.
- Page 8 Start up the function of changing the operating mode on your EW-7478APC In order to access the setting URL again (http://edimax.setup), now set your computer to use a dynamic IP address. 1. Configure the Internet Protocol Version4 Properties in your windows system.
- Page 9 4. You are about to change the operating mode on your device now. There are four modes to choose from as shown below. Click on the mode you wish. Then, click on Next to proceed the mode-change process. For more guidance about the steps on each mode, please look up the EW-7478APC user manual.
