The strut rod uses left and right and threads so turning the center shaft one direction lengthens the assembly and turning it in the opposite direction shortens it.

It is advised Blue Loctite be applied to the four 4mm screws on the rotating joint nuts. If you Loctite any other nuts you will lose the ability to adjust or remove the strut rods in the future.
