To turn on the device for the first time, you need to connect the AC adapter to the device. Connect one end of the AC adapter to the BookSense XT, and the other end to an electrical outlet. Once you connect the BookSense XT to the AC adapter, you will hear a sound indicating the BookSense XT is booting up.
5) To remove the card, push right on the left bottom edge to release it. Then pull it out. Note: If the large capacity of SD card is inserted, the BookSense XT takes a little bit time to recognize it, and the BookSense XT makes the beep sound while recognizing it.
Each folder contains “Playlist”, and “Mark” folders. These folders cannot be shown at the BookSense XT. So do not save any files into these folders and you can’t edit or cut files from these folders. 2. Basic Functions and Structures 2.1 Folders used in the BookSense XT...
2.2 Switching Mode When the BookSense XT is on, pressing the MODE button to toggle through Media, Daisy, Document Reader, and Radio. Once you change the Mode, file lists for each folder can be shown.

9.11 Set Current Storage Device. You can switch between two storage devices to press 0 button more than 2 seconds. Then BookSense XT shows a list of file & folder in usable storage device by rotating and can be used on that storage device.

2.18 Stop the voice BookSense XT allows you to stop the voice when you move in file list. You can use this function when you are recognizing situation properly and further voice information is not required.
HIMS Inc. BookSense XT – User Manual 3. Using Help Mode Help Mode has the function that gives you the instruction of operation when you press each button. Each Mode has its own Help Mode to be announced, and Help Mode is not an actual operating function.
To play audio file, you need to press MODE button changing to Media. When you turn the BookSense XT on first time, the default is Media. Default folders are shown in the Media. Please refer to 2.1 Folders used in the BookSense XT.
“Do you want to erase the current position? Press OK for “Yes”, press CANCLE for “No.” If you press the OK button, the BookSense XT does not remember the last position and exit the file. If you press the Cancel button, it remembers the last position and exit the file.
Note: “Preamp” to the unit to move by which means the volume is increased or decreased in the Media Player. So users can select the volume their preference, much louder than the maximum volume of the BookSense XT. It can adjust a volume of media file only, regardless of TTS volume.

HIMS Inc. BookSense XT – User Manual 4.12.5 Deleting a Mark If you have inserted a mark into a file, you can delete marks as needed. Refer to following steps to delete the marks: 1) Press number 3 button while the file is playing or paused.

After changing the value of each option to the setting that you want, press the OK or MENU button. Then “Option saved,” is announced. The BookSense XT will return to playing the file/pause status or the file list. If you press the CANCEL button instead of the OK button, the setting will not be applied and the edit box will close.
The default is three. 2) Select the value from 1 to 10 or unlimited by pressing the LEFT or RIGHT button. If you select unlimited, the BookSense XT will play the track continuously until you press the PLAY button.

4.23.3.2 Search File List using Tags The BookSense XT lets you use tags with audio files, which includes the title, artist, album, genre, etc of the audio file. When analyzing this tag, you can search for the music that you want to listen to by artist, album, or genre.

The DAISY player plays DAISY content, such as books from NLS, Bookshare, and more. 5.1 What is supported in the DAISY Player The BookSense XT supports the following file types of books in the DAISY player. DAISY 2.0/2.02/3.0, DAISY XML/Digital Talking Book.

5.16.2 Normal Speed If you want to return to normal speed, press number 5 button. You will hear a beep and the BookSense XT will return to the normal speed. 5.16.3 Play Faster If you want to increase the speed, press the number 6 button. Every time that you press this button, the speed increases by one level.

5.23.4 Import contents from CD-ROM or NLS cartridge If you connect BookSense XT to a CD-ROM, or a USB drive such as an NLS cartridge where the DAISY book is contained in the root, you can import the contents. To import contents from a CD-ROM, or NLS cartridge, follow these steps: 1) Connect the CD-ROM or USB cartridge to the BookSense XT.

BookSense XT – User Manual 7. Radio To listen to the radio on the BookSense XT, please connect earphones to the earphone jack. You can listen to the radio if you do not connect earphones to the device, but the reception will not be as clear.
1. You can add up to 6 presets, ranging from 1 to 6. If you try to set a preset that has already been set, the BookSense XT announces, “Preset # is already used.” and will return to the radio. You can also set presets by pressing the MENU button.
If you want to hear the current station you are on while listening to the radio, press number 0 button. When you press 0 while listening to the radio it is muted. Then the BookSense XT says the frequency of the current radio station and the mono/stereo information. After announcing the information, it will return to the radio, unmute.
9.4 Recording settings. 7.11 Adding Marks during Radio recording BookSense XT allows you to insert a mark during Radio recording. Once you insert a mark during Radio recording, you can move to mark when you listen to recorded file.

9.1 Alarm Settings The alarm settings include review current alarm, set alarm, and delete alarm. If you have not set the alarm or have deleted the alarm, the BookSense XT displays only set alarm in the menu. 9.1.1 Review current Alarm To check the set alarm, follow these steps: 1) Press the MENU button.

If you have not set the alarm, you will not see the “delete alarm” option. 9.2 Date and Time Settings After purchasing the BookSense XT, you will need to set the date and time. You can check the date and time using this menu in addition to pressing the date and time button.

At this time, if the BookSense XT tries to connect to the Bluetooth headset with “Connection, please wait…” message if the BookSense XT has the paired Bluetooth headset. And after connecting the headset successfully, you is heard sound from the BookSense XT.

If you are not receiving any radio stations while scanning, you can increase the sensitivity of the BookSense XT to make it pick up more radio stations. To change the sensitivity of the channel scan, press number 7 button. You can adjust the range from 1 to 10 with the default setting being 4.
BookSense XT – User Manual 13. Warranty Do not take apart the BookSense XT by yourself. Do not have anyone else who is not authorized by HIMS take apart the BookSense XT. If an unauthorized person or company disassembles the device, serious damage may occur to the BookSense XT. If an unauthorized person disassembles the BookSense XT, the warranty is void.
