In between the two baffles is where there may be some options. It is recommended that you fill the space with a light weight, pourable, insulating material to within 2 inches of the top.

A couple things to keep in mind: install both a speed control and an on/off switch for each fan, use only copper or copper clad wire, and turn off the power to the circuit that you are working on.
