FY-31AP Path Navigation & GCS Manual

Dear Customer :
Thank you for choosing FY31AP as your autopilot system. Please read
this manual carefully before using the system to ensure proper use and
operation.
The installation and use of this devic e require some skill and knowledge
in flying remote controlled fix ed wing aircraft.
If you are a complete beginner and have never flown one bef ore, we
do not recommend you install this device on your own.
Please find assistanc e from an ex perience RC Pilot who may provide
you with the basic knowledge required to use this device
successfully.
If you are already an ex perienced f lyer, you will f ind the FY31AP
installation to be easy and logical. Just follow this manual and you
won't go wrong.

1. Brief introductions for GCS
FY-31AP GCS is similar to Panda GCS, the main functions include
electronic map、 telemetry data monitoring、 flight attitude instrument、 speed,
altitude instrument, location, and telemetry data recording and playback, air
route editing, map loading management etc.
GCS of FY-31AP are shown as below.
Software operating environment:
CPU frequency: 1GHz or more
Memor y capacity: 1G or more
Hard disk space: At least 200MB free disk spac e
Operating System: Windows XP, Vista, Win 7 etc
Monitor : 1024x768 resolution or above
The computer Serial Port: Support USB serial converter or 9-pin port which
baud rate is 19200 or more
Other Peripherals: Keyboard, Mouse
2. The installation of GCS and USB-TLL
Firstly, you should download the GCS and USB-TLL serial drive on our
official website: www.feiyudz.cn.

After download the program please click install.Suggestions install all the
way by default. Or choose the right path. Path had better not choose
desktop, path don't with Chinese, blank space or strange characters, path
not too deep.
Open the GCS, you can see the following interface.
(If you can't open the GCS in Vista or Win7 system, please f ind out the
executable file, and run it as the administrator. )
Step 1: install the USB- TTL serial drive
1) Double-click the serial drive, installed by default.
2) Restart the computer and make the drive be activated.
3) If it can't be used, please uninstall the original drive and reinstall this one,
or search its PL2303 chip to the latest version on the Internet.
Step 2: confirm the USB-TTL
Virtual serial number (take Win XP for example)

Insert the USB-TTL interfac e cable into computer USB COM port(don't
connect TTL port to any other wire ) , you will find there is more than
one
port(COM

(COM1)" exactly is the Virtual serial number.

3. Hardware connection instruction
FY-31 AP provides a data radio interface (UART), you c an downlink
telemetry data and rec eive control information by radio and monitor the real
time flight by the computer . The telemetry data includes: Longitude, latitude,
altitude, speed, heading, positioning, operation mode and the real-time
output amount of the servo and so on . By matching with remoter adapter,
you also can send the rec eiver signal to FY-31AP module by the radio to
achieve remote control. By matching the GCS, it can
trace and flight parameters. In addition, you can
change flight attitude in real time and circling radius and so on.
Note: FY -31AP telemetry data default frequency is 10hz, because
downloading frequency is too high. Use half d uplex radio (such as FY -
602, FY - 605) will give the computer brings great burden, cause GCS is
not able to use or extremely slow. If you need to use our GCS for
real-time monitoring. We strongly recommend that you should cha nge
the telemetr y data frequency to 1hz, remote data frequency to 10Hz,
avoid to cause computer burden, And influe nce the normal use of o ur
software.
If yo u just connect with Hornet - OSD to realize FPV, And you do not
need to use GCS to real-time monitoring, The n you do not need to
change the frequency.
Frequency modificatio n method:
Connect the FY-31AP to the computer directly for setting (shown as
below)
(In order to let yo ur FY-31AP can success co nnect to the GCS to
change the frequency, For protection measures. FY-31AP firmware More
than V1.20 , the first 10s FY-31AP will automatically change data output
frequency into 1hz.After 10s will a utomatically be back into the default
10hz.)

You can use a pair of data radio to realize wireless setting.
convenient to debug, and you can upload air route at any time. You also can
realize the function of monitoring flight attitude and flight trace. You can fly
to anywhere on the map or change flight attitude by using FY GCS.
