3. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING! Before use, ensure you read, understand and comply with the Honda Engine Owner’s Manual and the safety
p
instructions in this document. Ensure you fully understand the application and limitations, as well as the potential
hazards, of the generator.
3.1.
BEFORE STARTING THE GENERATOR
1. Ensure you have read the engine manual and all specification charts.
2. Fill engine to correct level with the specified grade of oil.
3. Check fuel level. Do not over-fill the fuel tank.
4. Ensure all electrical loads are disconnected.
3.2.
STARTING THE GENERATOR
1. Ensure you have performed all actions in 3.1. above.
2. Turn on fuel tap (if fitted).
3. Set choke to correct position. Note: If starting a warm engine, move the choke control to ‘No Choke’ position.
4. Set the engine ‘Run’ lever/switch to the ‘On’ or ‘Run’ position.
5. Grasp the recoil handle and pull rope slowly until some resistance is felt. Let rope rewind slowly, then pull with a rapid full arm
stroke. Let rope slowly return.
6. When engine starts, move choke lever to half choke position until engine runs smoothly and then to ‘No Choke’ position.
7. If engine fails to start, repeat the procedure from 3.2.3. If it still will not start, refer to ’Trouble-Shooting’ section. If necessary contact
your authorised Sealey service agent.
3.3.
USING THE GENERATOR
1. Allow the engine to warm up (approximately 3 minutes).
2. Select the correct voltage output by adjusting the voltage selector switch (where fitted).
3. Connect the equipment to the generator socket. WARNING!: Do not exceed the wattage capacity of the generator.
4. Always observe the safety instructions of the equipment being used.
3.4.
TO STOP THE GENERATOR
1. Disconnect the electrical load.
2. Allow the engine to stabilise.
3. Stop engine by moving the engine ‘Run’ lever/switch to ‘Off’ or ‘Stop’ position.
4. Turn off fuel tap (if fitted).
3.5.
STORAGE
If you store the generator for more than 30 days, use a fuel additive such as “STA-BIL¨, “Fuel Fresh¨, or equivalent to prevent
fuel gum deposits from forming.
Store the generator in a safe, dry, childproof area.
4. MAINTENANCE
4.1.
GENERATOR MAINTENANCE
Keep the unit clean and dry. A damp cloth may be used to wipe exterior surfaces clean. Use a soft brush to loosen caked dirt, then
use a vacuum system to remove loosened dirt. Never use a forceful spray of water to clean the generator.
4.2.
ENGINE MAINTENANCE
Refer to the Engine Owner’s Manual for periodic maintenance of the engine.
In particular oil, air filter and spark plug must be changed regularly.
All other maintenance must be carried out by qualified staff, contact your local Sealey service agent.
5. TROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEM
Engine will not start.
Engine runs rough.
