Solar pump system 10 W
Item no. 40 48 16

Intended Use

The product comprises of a solar module and a pump operated with it. At suffi cient solar ir-
radiation on the solar module, enough power is generated to operate the pump. Since there
is no rechargeable battery, the pump runs only when there is enough sunlight during the day.
Several water fountains are possible due to several enclosed nozzle attachments.
Any use other than that described above is not permitted. The safety and assembly notes in
these operating instructions must be observed!
This product complies with the statutory national and European requirements. All company

Safety Information

The guarantee/warranty will expire if damage is incurred resulting from non-
compliance with the operating instructions! We do not assume any liability for
consequential damage!
We do not assume any liability for property damage and personal injury
caused by improper use or non-compliance with the safety instructions! In

• For safety and approval reasons (CE), unauthorised conversion and/or modifi ca-
tion of the device are not permitted.
• This product is not a toy and must be kept out of the reach of children!
• The product must not be used to transport potable water or other foods.
• The pump is not protected against running dry. It must be operated in water at all
times. Otherwise, it will be destroyed.
• Place the solar module so that you cannot trip over it. This also applies when plac-
ing the cable between the solar module and the pump.
• Do not step on the cable. Do not run over it with vehicles. Place the cable so that
it cannot be damaged by sharp edges.
• Do not use the product anymore if it has any damage, but dispose of it environ-
mentally compatibly.
• Do not leave packaging material unattended. It may become a dangerous toy for
children.

Installation and Commissioning

If there is a protective foil for transport on the solar module, remove it now.
• Unroll the connection cable of the pump.
• Push the extension tubes onto the pump and then put one of the sprinkler attachments on the
top end of the extension tube.
• Place the pump vertically, e.g. in a garden pond.
Never put the pump directly into the bottom of the pond, but, e.g., on a few stones.
Otherwise, a lot of sludge and dirt will get into the pump. This clogs the fi lter and the
sprinkler attachment within seconds and thus prevents it from working.
• Connect the plug at the end of the pump cable to the connection at the back of the solar
module and screw on the sealing ring.
• The surface of the solar module should be vertically aligned with the sun for best output
power.
Use, e.g., the enclosed standing base that can be attached to the back of the solar module.
Push the standing base, e.g. into the grass or a fl ower bed. Never hammer it into the ground
with a tool (e.g. a hammer), though. This would destroy it. Loss of warranty/guarantee!
Place the solar module so that it is located in a sunny, not shadowed location.
• Since there is no supporting battery, the pump output and thus the water volume transported

through the sprinkler attachment is directly according to the intensity of the solar irradiation
on the solar module.
Therefore, it will not function when it is very cloudy, in the dusk or at dawn or night.
Version 04/13
• The pump automatically works at suffi cient solar irradiation. It cannot be switched on/off.
To deactivate the pump temporarily, disconnect the connection cable from the solar module.
You can also cover the solar module with a light-impermeable cover.
• The pump is not protected against running dry. Therefore, always ensure that the pump is
under water.
• If the water's splashing is annoying, use a different sprinkler attachment or shorten the riser.
Cleaning
a) Pump
Depending on water contamination (algae, suspended particles, etc.), the pump and sprinkler
inserts must be cleaned regularly.
Proceed as follows:
1. First disconnect the plug connections between the pump and solar module to avoid inadver-
tent start-up.
2. Pull the front housing part off forwards;
see arrow in the fi gure on the right. The fi lter
can then be taken out.
3. Pull the bottom off forward like a carriage.
4. Turn the front pump cover to the left by about
45°.
5. Take off the pump cover and pull the impeller
out of the pump with its bearing shaft.
6. Take off the seal.
7. Remove a rubber stopper from the bearing
shaft and pull it out of the impeller.
8. Clean all parts carefully now. Flush them under
clear water.
9. Now reinstall all parts in reverse order.
Observe that the bearing shaft in the pump
and in the front pump cover is placed correctly.
Otherwise, the pump cover cannot be closed.
Do not apply any force when installing the device. Else the pump may be
damaged.
