Eliminating minor faults yourself

Before you call customer service:
Please check whether you can eliminate the fault yourself based on the following
information.
Customer service will charge you for advice – even if the appliance is still under
guarantee!
Fault
Displays
do not illuminate.
The freezer
compartment has
a thick layer of frost.
The frozen food is
frozen solid.
The temperature in
the freezer
compartment is too
warm.
Warning signal
sounds, alarm button
lights up. Fig. 2/5
The freezer
compartment is too
warm!
The frozen food is at
risk of thawing!
Possible cause
Power failure; the fuse
has been switched off;
the mains plug
has not been inserted
properly.
Appliance opened
frequently.
The ventilation
openings have been
covered.
Large quantities of
fresh food are being
frozen.
Appliance is open.
Ventilation openings
have been covered.
Too much food was
placed in the freezer
compartment at once.
Remedial action
Connect mains plug. Check whether
the power is on, check the fuses.
Defrost the freezer compartment
(see chapter Defrosting). Always
ensure that the freezer compartment
door is closed properly.
Loosen frozen food with a blunt
object. Do not use a knife or pointed
object.
Do not open the appliance
unnecessarily.
Remove obstacles.
Do not exceed max. freezing
capacity.
To switch off the warning signal,
press the alarm button 5.
Close the appliance.
Ensure that there is adequate
ventilation.
Do not exceed max. freezing
capacity.
When the fault has been eliminated,
the alarm display goes out shortly
afterwards.
