HOW TO GET BETTER PERFORMANCE, COMFORT, AND ENJOYMENT OUT OF YOUR BIKE
SEAT. IT IS ALSO IMPORTANT THAT YOUR FIRST RIDE WITH YOUR COMPANION
BIKE SEAT WITH A PASSENGER ON-BOARD IS TAKEN IN A CONTROLLED
ENVIRONMENT, AWAY FROM CARS, OBSTACLES, AND OTHER CYCLISTS. RIDING
WITH A SECOND PASSENGER ON-BOARD A BICYCLE (ON THE COMPANION BIKE
SEAT) CHANGES HOW YOUR BICYCLE HANDLES WHILE RIDING.

    Alice: 8.0 lbs / 3629 g Passenger Load Capacity: 200 lbs / 91 kg Companion Bike Seat is designed to allow for one passenger to ride (in addition to the rider) on a bicycle. It is not designed to safely allow multiple passengers to ride on the Companion Bike Seat.
  • Page 4 IT IS STRONGLY ADVISED THAT A PROPER FITTING, ASTM, OR SNELL APPROVED, BICYCLE SAFETY HELMET BE WORN AT ALL TIMES WHEN RIDING ON YOUR COMPANION BIKE SEAT. THIS IS TRUE OF BOTH THE PRIMARY RIDER OF THE BICYCLE AS WELL AS THE PASSENGER ON THE COMPANION BIKE SEAT.
  • Page 5 Doing so will help to prevent unnecessary accidents and/or injuries. It is customary to get on or off the Companion Bike Seat from the left side (as a passenger). Always wait for the rider to tell you it’s okay to mount or dismount.
  • Page 6 If the rider is forced to break hard, this forward weight transfer is very apparent; you will be forced against the rider and you will start to slide forward on the Companion Bike Seat. In the event that this occurs, try to keep back, away from the rider. Resist sliding forward by pressing your feet against the foot pegs, using your thigh muscles to control your position on the seat.
  • Page 7 • Familiarize yourself with all the bicycle’s features and the features of your Companion Bike Seat. • If you are wearing loose pants, use leg clips or elastic bands to prevent them from being caught in the chain.
  • Page 8 CPSC compatible reflectors. • Ensure bicycle and Companion Bike Seat are equipped with a full set of correctly positioned and clean reflectors. • Use a properly functioning lighting set comprising of a white front lamp and a red rear lamp.
  • Page 9 Make sure and lock your bicycle up at all times while you are out and about. Keep in mind that simply locking up your bicycle will not protect from theft of your Companion Bike Seat. If you are locking up both wheels on your bicycle when parking, consider looping your bicycle chain around the Companion Bike Seat frame as well, for greater security.
  • Page 10 Installing Foot Pegs: 1. Remove axle nuts holding rear wheel. 2. Fit foot pegs over axle thread. Thread axle nuts onto rear axle inside each foot peg.
  • Page 11 Installing Seat-Post Clamp: 1. Remove seat and seat-post from bicycle. 2. Slide the Companion Bike Seat seat-post clamp onto the seat post and re-install the bicycle seat and seat-post.
  • Page 12 Installing your Companion Bike Seat: 1. Remove foot peg clamps from the Companion Bike Seat. 2. Position the Companion Bike Seat frame so that its resting on the foot pegs with the turnbuckle facing the seat of the bicycle.
  • Page 13 3. Attach one end of the turnbuckle to the front of the Companion Bike Seat frame. There are two eyelets on the front of the Companion Bike Seat frame to attach the turnbuckle to. Attach the loose end of the turnbuckle to the Companion Bike Seat seat-post-clamp and tighten.
  • Page 14 Adjusting your Companion Bike Seat: 1. Spin the turnbuckle to tighten or loosen until the Companion seat cushion is parallel to the ground. 2. Tighten nuts on both sides of the turnbuckle to lock the turnbuckle in place.
  • Page 15 Opening and Closing the Stash-box: 1. Insert the key into the lock. 2. Twist to release the lock until the button pops out. The stash- box is now unlocked and can be opened. 3. Simply depress the button in order to lock the stash-box again.
  • Page 16 Store your Companion Bike Seat (and your bicycle) under shelter. Avoid leaving it in the rain or exposed to corrosive materials. Riding on the beach or in coastal areas exposes your Companion Bike Seat to salt which is very corrosive. Wash your Companion Bike Seat frequently.

    Reflectors Your Companion Bike Seat is supplied with two rear (red) reflectors. These are an important safety and legal requirement, and should remain securely fitted and in good, clean conditions at all times. Periodically inspect the rear reflectors for signs of wear or damage.
  • Page 18 Frame: Steel frames are guaranteed against faulty materials and workmanship for as long as the initial consumer purchaser has the Companion Bike Seat, subject to the condition of the warranty listed below. If frame failure should occur due to faulty materials or workmanship during the guarantee period, the frame will be replaced.
  • Page 19 3. This warranty is not transferable. This warranty ceases when you rent, sell, or give away the Companion Bike Seat, ride with more than one person on the Companion Bike Seat, or use the bicycle in any way described above as outside of the standard use conditions.
