thermostat is installed, it starts its daily correction process of its Adaptive Intelligent
Recovery. After a few days the thermostat has calculated the right time for heating up.
Intelligent Heating
Your body perceives temperature from a variety of sources, not only from the air in the
room, but also from your surroundings – walls, windows and furniture. Common
thermostats sense only air temperature, which may or may not reflect how hot or cold the
room actually feels to a person. The Chronotherm IV reads the temperature of the wall as
well of the air – and responds to temperature changes as little as half a degree Celcius –
so room temperature is more likely to "feel right".
In the morning, heating up is being done very gradually. Not only does this diminish the
risk of "overshoot", meaning that the heating up exceeds the desired temperature. Also
the gradual heating up means less strain on the pipes in your home.
Programming Options
You can program at least four temperature-changes (periods) per day. These periods are
called RISING, LEAVING, COMING HOME AND SLEEP. To activate the periods you
program the beginning time and the desired temperature, if necessary for each day in a
different way. If four periods per day are not sufficient, you can easily extend the number
of periods per day to six with the periods LEAVING 2 and COMING HOME 2. This
allows you to program a raise in temperature if you come home around lunch.
Extra programming options
• Using COPY DAY you can quickly and easily program the other days of the week.
• The thermostat has a unique holiday/timer function which can hold a temperature for
a time until a certain moment. You can use this function for a holiday, for a weekend
away from home or even for a few hours using the timer.
• By touching only one button you can change today's and/or tomorrow's program into
Sunday's program.
Flame symbol
As soon as the thermostat switches on the heater, the Chronotherm IV display shows a
flame symbol in the lower left side of the screen. This allows you to ascertain at any time
if your heater is being active.
Batteries
Before using the Chronotherm IV you need to place 3 'penlight' alkaline batteries (type
AA). The average lifespan of batteries in the Chronotherm IV is at least two years (see
also: Replacing the batteries). As soon as the batteries are in place, the Chronotherm IV
will function according to the factory setings of the period RISING of Monday.
