4. OpeRaTION
Note! This procedure applies only to electro-mechanical relays.
4.1.
sourcing the faulty relay (solenoid).
4.1.1.
Read these instructions in conjunction with automobile manufacturers manual to establish proximity and function of relays and fuses.
4.1.2.
Remove the suspect relay and check the connections for any signs of overheating or of corrosion. If there appears to be any
damage, replace with an identical brand-new relay.
4.1.3.
If there is no apparent damage the function can be checked with the relay tester.
4.2.
Testing relay function
4.2.1.
With the ignition switch off connect the red crocodile clip of the relay tester to the positive terminal of the vehicle battery.
4.2.2.
Connect the black crocodile clip to the negative terminal of the vehicle battery.
4.2.3.
Select either a 4PIn socket or a 5PIn socket with the selector switch on the relay tester.
4.2.4.
Plug in the relay to be tested and press the test button.
4.2.5.
Test feature will cycle the relay ten times, testing the resistance, contacts and consistency within each cycle. If a cycle fails on the
test then this will be indicated by a red led or alternatively a green led if the relay works.
4.2.6.
If the relay fails replace it with an identical brand-new relay.
5. MaINTeNaNCe
WaRNING! DO NOT attempt to repair or service unless you are qualified to do so and have the relevant calibration, performance test,
and service information. To avoid electrical shock or damage to the tester do not get water inside the case.
Periodically wipe the casing and flying leads with a damp cloth and mild detergent. DO NOT use solvents.

After each use wipe clean the crocodile clips with a lightly oiled cloth.
DO NOT store in a place of high humidity or high temperature.
5.3.
eNvIRONMeNT pROTeCTION
Recycle unwanted materials instead of disposing of them as waste. All tools, accessories and packaging should be sorted, taken to
a recycling centre and disposed of in a manner which is compatible with the environment. When the product becomes completely
unserviceable and requires disposal, drain any fluids (if applicable) into approved containers and dispose of the product and fluids
according to local regulations.
Weee ReGUlaTIONs
dispose of this product at the end of its working life in compliance with the eU directive on Waste electrical and electronic equipment
(Weee). When the product is no longer required, it must be disposed of in an environmentally protective way. Contact your local solid
waste authority for recycling information.
