3. Wavelength division multiplexing

All AROONA-STAR products are compatible with Wavelength
Division Multiplexing (WDM). WDM products are to be installed
between the active devices and the AROONA-STAR product.
The overall architecture of a link using WDM remains similar to
the architecture of a single-wavelength link:
• On the AROONA-STAR equipment side (central site), use
single-mode cords (SM - 9/125 µm) to connect a pair of
fibers at the ports of the WDM equipment (MUX and
DEMUX) .
• on the remote site, connect the same pair of fibers using

single-mode cords (SM - 9/125 µm), making sure to reverse
the connections on the WDM equipment (DEMUX and
MUX)
For detailed instructions on how to install a wavelength division
multiplexing system, refer to the documents issued by the
system supplier.
The recommendations for choosing WDM transceivers are
similar to the recommendations indicated in part 5.
