Accessories
The capacity of this grinder is 6" (150 mm) diameter X 3/32" (2.38
mm) thick Type 1/41 cutting wheels. It is important to choose the
correct guards and flanges to use with grinder accessories.
WARNING: Accessories must be rated for at least the speed
recom mended on the tool warning label. Wheels and other accessories
running over their rated accessory speed may fly apart and cause
injury. Every unthreaded accessory must have a 7/8" (22.2 mm) arbor
hole. If it does not, it may have been designed for a circular saw.
Accessory ratings must always be above tool speed as shown on tool
nameplate.
WARNING: Handle and store all abrasive wheels carefully to
prevent damage from thermal shock, heat, mechanical damage, etc.
Store in a dry protected area free from high humidity, freezing
temperatures or extreme temperature changes.

ASSEMBLY AND ADJUSTMENTS

WARNING: To reduce the risk of injury, turn unit off and
disconnect the grinder from power source before making any
adjustments or removing/installing attachments or accessories.
An accidental start-up can cause injury.
Mounting Guards (Fig. 2, 3)
CAUTION: Guards must be used with all cutting wheels.
This guard is compatible with D
D28140, D28144, D28144N, D28065, D28065N, D28066N,
DWE46044 or DWE46066. It is a Type 1 guard for usage solely with
Type 1/41 wheels.
1. Depress wheel change release button (B) and hinge open the
bottom half of the guard to the farthest open position.
2. If not already loosened, loosen the guard stop screw (C) until no
threads are exposed on the underside.

3. With the anti-lock backing flange
removed, open the guard latch
(D). Align the lugs (G) on the
guard with the slots (H) on the
gear case.
4. Close the bottom half of the
guard until it clicks into place.
5. With the guard latch open (D),
rotate the guard into the desired
working position. The guard body
should be positioned between
the spindle and the operator to
provide
maximum
operator
protection.
6. Open the top half of the guard
again, and tighten guard stop
screw (C). Turn screw clockwise
until fully seated onto guard stop.
Close top half of the guard (L)
again until it clicks into place.
Insure the guard is completely
closed and locked.
7. Close the guard latch to secure
the guard on the gear case.
NOTE: If the guard is loose with guard latch in the closed position,
tighten the adjustment screw (E). You should not be able to rotate
the guard by hand when the latch is closed.
WARNING: Do not operate the tool with a loose guard or with
the guard in the open position. A loose or open guard cannot
protect the operator from broken wheel fragments, accidental
contact with wheel, and sparks that could ignite clothing.
8. To remove guard, follow these steps in reverse.
