Stripping the Burner

1. Remove burner head (1) by unscrewing by hand.
2. Unscrew jet (2). Use multi-key.
3. Unscrew stuffing box (3). Use multi-key.
4. Unscrew spindle (4) until cleaning needle (5) is released.
5. Remove needle, and unscrew the spindle completely.

Replacing Parts

1. Screw the new spindle (4) completely into the burner house.
2. Fit metal ring (6) on spindle (4) with the flat end first.
3. Fit graphite packing (7) and stuffing box (3) on spindle (4).
4. Push the assembly with stuffing box, graphite packing and metal ring
gently in the burner.
5. Screw stuffing box into the burner, using the multi-key. Tighten gently
If too tight, the spindle may be difficult to turn.
6. After checking that the spindle is turned fully clockwise, attach new
cleaning needle (5) by sliding it down into the burner.
Make sure the teeth of the needle face the teeth of the spindle.
7. Very gently, press the cleaning needle against the spindle, while simultan-
eously turning the spindle slowly approximately ½ turn counter, clock-
wise. Listen for 4 or 5 clicks.
8. Turn spindle fully clock-wise.
Check that the cleaning needle is retracted by the teeth of the spindle
into the burner.
9. Tighten the new jet.
10. Gently, turn spindle fully counter, clock-wise.
Check that cleaning needle rises through the jet.
Also check that the spindle turns approximately 1/3 – 1/2 of a revolution
(full right – full left).
11. Pressurize/pump your stove to make sure the spindle shuts off the fuel
supply when turned fully clockwise.
With pressure in tank no air/fuel should escape through the burner jet.
12. Light the stove to test.
If small flames occur by the stuffing box and /or jet, turn stove off, allow
to cool, then tighten stuffing box and/or jet.
