Assembly 1. The winch handle is screwed onto the winch followed by the spring and nut as shown below. 2. Use a 3/4" wrench and tighten the nut. The threads on the winch are tapered, so the nut will stop prior to running out of threads in the winch.

Tighten just snug enough to have washer flush to winch. 5. Wind up the web strap onto the winch. 6. Extra hardware is included for mounting the DXE-VRW-1 Winch to the High Performance DX Engineering vertical antennas.. The pictures below show the DXE-VRW-1 Winch mounted on a High Performance DX Engineering DXE-8040VA-1 80 and 40 meter dual-band vertical antenna. DANGER : Make sure you have not inadvertently located the antenna underneath power lines. Residential power lines are often less than 40' high.

Always stand off to the side when raising or lowering the antenna as shown below. Do not stand directly behind the winch. If the strap is worn and fails, it may whip back and cause injury. Keep all liquids, dirt or chemicals away from the web strap to avoid unseen damage. Always replace a worn, cut, nicked or damaged strap before using.
