3. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING! Before using the flaring kit, ensure that you
have read and understood the Safety Instructions
in Section 1.
3.1. Securely clamp the Brake Flaring Tool in to a vice, locate
the Die Turret and the lever bar.
3.2. The pipe end to be flared must be cut clean and square and
be de-burred. Use a pipe or tube cutter (available from your
Sealey dealer).
3.3. Select the appropriate size clamp block for the pipe and
position in the tool as shown in fig.1.
3.4. Lay the pipe on the block, so that the end of the pipe is flush
with the end of the die clamp as shown in fig 2.
3.5. Place the other half of the die clamp block on top of the pipe
(fig.3) and then swing the clamp and lock in to position with
the locating pin. Ensure that the pipe is still flush with the
end of the die clamp and tighten down using the T-bar.
3.6. To form a Bubble flare (fig.5.C).
Rotate the die turret to align Op.1 of the appropriate size die
for the pipe to be flared. Using the lever bar gently locate
the die in to the end of the pipe and then apply more
pressure until the bar stops. Release the pressure and
remove the pipe from the die clamp and check that the flare
is symmetrically formed.
3.7. To form a Double flare (fig.5.D).
Proceed as above (3.6) to produce a Bubble flare, DO NOT
remove the pipe from the clamp and then rotate the turret
to Op.2 for that size of pipe. Locate the die with the end of
the pipe and apply pressure using the lever bar until a
strong resistance is felt. This will fold the top section of the
bubble flare inwards to form a double flare (fig.5.D).
Again, check that the flare is symmetrically formed.
