Mounting-/Operation Instruction for Smartmatic Ambient Light Sensor 2.4GHz
General Introduction
Congratulations on your purchase of this nobilé-product! You have decided on a high-quality product which is manufactured
with the utmost care and subject to several quality controls. Safe use of the product is only guaranteed if each instruction
is followed accordingly. In case of damage caused by non-observance of these instructions the warranty expires. The
installation and electrical connection must be done by an authorized expert (e.g. electrician) in compliance with existing
standards and local code. Prior to any installation or maintenance work, mains must be disconnected. Before putting in
operation, make sure any component of the entire installation does not bear a risk of life. According to common practice,
please perform a standard function test, before installing. To make maintenance work possible, the lighting system should
be accessible after installation.
The Ambient Light Sensor monitors your home environment and transmits measured Illuminance (lux) to the Almond
Gateway. The Ambient Light Sensor utilizes 2.4GHz frequency for wireless signal transmission. The IEEE802.15.4
standard, allows a large amount of devices to be included in a network and coordinated for data exchange and signal
transmission. The Ambient Light Sensor serves as an end device in the network. It can be included in the network to
transmit signal upon activation, but cannot permit any other device to join the network through the Ambient Light Sensor.
Parts Identification
1.
Light Sensor / LED Indicator
Flashes once: After factory resetting the Light Sensor.
Flashes twice: After the Light Sensor has successfully
joined the Almond Gateway.

Battery Compartment
5.
Function Button
Press once to send a supervisory signal to the coordinator.
Press and hold for 10 seconds to reset the device.
Self adhesive mounting
1.
Clean the surface with a suitable degreaser.
2.
Remove the protective covering from one side of double-sided adhesive pad and firmly apply to the back of the
device.
3.
Remove the other covering and firmly place/press the device in the desired location.
Do not use the Self-adhesive mounting method on poorly painted and/or rough surfaces.
Screw Mounting
The base of the Light Sensor has two screw knockouts, where the plastic is thinner for
mounting purposes. To mount the Light Sensor:
1.
Detach the Top Cover and Base assembly by loosening the Cover-Fixing
Screw using a Philips screwdriver.
2.
Break through the knockouts on the base.
3.
Use the holes as a template to drill two holes and insert the wall plugs.
4.
Screw the base into the wall plugs.
5.
Replace the top cover over the base by hooking the base onto the fixing hook
and pushing the cover towards the base.
6.
Secure and screw the top cover back on to its base using a Philips
screwdriver.
Joining the Almond Gateway
As a Smartmatic device, the Light Sensor needs to join the Almond Gateway to transmit light density signal. Please follow
the steps below to join the Light Sensor to the Almond Gateway.
1.
Detach the Top Cover and Base assembly by loosening the Cover-Fixing Screw using a Philips screwdriver.
2.
Press and hold the function button for 10 seconds as the Light Sensor resets (LED flashes once) and starts
searching for the Almond Gateway. Please make sure the permit-to-join feature on the Gateway is enabled.
3.
If the Light Sensor successfully joins the Gateway, the LED Indicator will flash twice to confirm.
4.
After joining the Gateway, the Light Sensor will be registered in the network automatically. Please check your
Gateway to confirm if joining and registration is successful.
5.
After joining the Gateway, if the Light Sensor loses connection with the Gateway, the LED will flash every 20
seconds to indicate. Please check your Gateway condition and Light Sensor signal range to correct the situation.
The connection of the sensors among themselves or to the gateway can take up to 30 min after a power failure.
6.
The connection of the sensors among themselves or to the gateway can take up to 30 min after an interruption
of the connection.
Factory Reset
If you want to remove the Light Sensor from the current Almond Gateway and join a new Almond Gateway, you need to use
the Factory Reset function to clear the Light Sensor for its stored setting and information first before it can join another
network. To perform Factory Reset:
1.
Press and hold the function button for 10 seconds, release the button when the LED flashes once.
2.
The Light Sensor has been reset to factory default setting with all its previous network information removed. It
will now actively search for available Gateway again and join the Gateway automatically.
3.
If the Light Sensor successfully joins the Gateway, the LED Indicator will flash twice to indicate.
Light Monitoring
The Light Sensor measures illuminance and transmits measured data to the Gateway regularly. The factory default interval
is 30 minutes.
When the current illuminance changes by +/- 10%, the Light Sensor will also transmit a signal.
You can also press the Function Button once to transmit current lux reading manually.
Battery and Low Battery Detection
The Light Sensor uses one CR123A 3V Lithium battery as its power source.
The Light Sensor features Low Battery Detection function. When the battery voltage is low, the Light Sensor will transmit
Low Battery signal to the Almond Gateway. When changing battery, after removing the old batteries, press the Function
Button twice to fully discharge before inserting new battery.
If low battery voltage is detected upon inserting new battery, the LED indicator will flash 5 times.
Supervision
The Light Sensor will transmit a supervision signal along with the illuminance signal to report its condition regularly. The
factory default interval is 30 minutes, which can be adjusted according to setting.
Specifications are subject to change without prior notice.
