Installation
Introduction
This manual provides installation instructions for Kit M04489K00X for Encore
Dispensers. The Kit M04489K004 contains the printer parts and hardware required for
installation in an Encore 500 equipped with CRIND
contains the printer parts and hardware required for installation in an Encore 500 equipped
with CRIND Control Node 1.
Required Reading
Before installing these kits, the installer must read, understand, and follow:
• This manual
• NFPA 30A, The Automotive and Marine Service Station Code
• NFPA 70, The National Electric Code
• Applicable federal, state and local codes and regulations
Failure to do so may adversely affect the safe use and operation of the equipment.
Note: This kit must be installed by a Gilbarco Authorized Service Contractor (ASC) to ensure

Failure to install, inspect, maintain or service this equipment in accordance with these codes, regulations and standards may lead to legal citations with penalties or affect the safe use and operation of the equipment.
  • Page 5 Important Safety Information No Sparks - No Smoking Sparks from starting vehicles, starting or using power tools, burning cigarettes, cigars or pipes can also ignite fuels and their vapors. Static electricity, including an electrostatic charge on your body, can cause a spark sufficient to ignite fuels and their vapors. After getting out of a vehicle, touch the metal of your vehicle to discharge any electrostatic charge before you approach the dispenser island.
  • Page 6 Installing the M04489K004/M04489K005 Kit Installing the M04489K004/M04489K005 Kit The following procedures describe installing the Encore USB Printer Kit M04489K004 or M04489K005 in an Encore unit. Read all instructions before beginning installation. Observe and execute all safety precautions and procedures before, during and after installation.
  • Page 7 Installing the M04489K004/M04489K005 Kit Using the Chamfer cutting tool, insert the tool through the printer mounting slot in the CIM door. Hold the tool as shown in Figure 2 (also hold other end of tool) and shave off material from the top of the slot until the blade of the tool fits vertically in the slot and a chamfer is cut on the upper edge of the slot.

  • Page 9 Installing the M04489K004/M04489K005 Kit CAUTION When handling the USB printer, do not apply pressure to the labelled area above the paper insert slot on the upper portion of the printer (Figure 6).   • Page 10 Installing the M04489K004/M04489K005 Kit Figure 7: Printer Mounting Screws Printer Mounting Screw Printer Mounting Bracket In the kit, locate the M04405A001 (for side A of dispenser) or M04405A002 (for side B of dispenser) power cable and the M03695B003 USB cable. Route the cables in the cable ties on the back of the CIM door as shown in Figure 8.
  • Page 11 Installing the M04489K004/M04489K005 Kit Connect the USB cable to the CRIND Control Node PCA, connect side 1 cable plug to P3120 (bottom) and side 2 cable plug to P3122 (top) as shown in Figure 9. Note: If the unit is being updated from a CCN1 to CCN3, these connections can be made after the CCN3 has been installed.

Be sure the connector is oriented as shown (the red wires and latch facing the paper feed).   • Page 13 Installing the M04489K004/M04489K005 Kit At the M00291A001 Mounting Bracket in the Encore unit (bracket shown in Figure 12), insert the four standoffs into the mounting holes. The standoffs and card assembly are mounted on the opposite side of the mounting bracket from the CRIND Control Node 2.   • Page 15 Installing the M04489K004/M04489K005 Kit Installing the Speaker Retrofit Kit In the M04489K004 or M04489K005 kit, locate the M04435K001 Speaker Retrofit Kit. On the back of the CIM door and to the left of the display (looking from back of door), mount the M04432B001 speaker bracket and the M00636A001 Speaker and cable assembly.

A red LED should be blinking two times per second on the USB printer. This means the printer is operational but out of paper. Load paper in both printers following instructions on the printer.

    Installing the M04489K004/M04489K005 Kit Reprogramming the Unit Note: Reprogramming is required only if the CRIND Control Node was replaced. Laptop must be loaded with version V2.6.20 or higher of the Encore software. Connect the laptop to Jack 3111 on CRIND Control Node. Follow the procedures provided in MDE-3804, Encore and Eclipse Start-Up and Service Manual to update the software at the Encore pump/dispenser.
