H400 user manual 1 General safety-relevant notes General This user manual serves as training material and relieves operating the machine as intended and safely. The proper operation and conscientious maintenance are essential for obtaining the reliability and operational capability of the machine. The safety of all persons who get in touch with this machine highly depends on mastering the operation of the machine.

H400 user manual 2 Product description The optical design is a hyperbolic primary mirror in combination with a 116mm 4lens corrector in 2 groups. It offers a very wide field and fast focal ratio. It is thus very suitable for sky surveys and short exposure times.

H400 user manual 6 Physical installation Dew cap The dew cap (if ordered) is not mounted onto the telescope when delivered. Mount it by screwing in the 8 M5 screws. Figure 3 - mount dew cap Electric mirror cover The electric mirror cover (if ordered) comes already mounted onto the dew cap. When mounting the dew cap make sure that the mirror cover drive is located opposite to the focuser.

H400 user manual 7 Collimation Avoid putting the telescope into a horizontal or even lower position during collimation to ensure that the primary mirror lies firmly inside the mirror cell. Screw the 2 inch adapter onto the focuser, insert the collimation laser and switch it on.
H400 user manual Collimation of the secondary mirror To collimate the secondary mirror, tilt it by using the screws marked with „1“, until the laser beam points exactly to the centre of the primary mirror. There is a triangular sticker on the primary mirror to mark the centre.

H400 user manual Now you need to screw the four screws shown in the figure below a bit in, to achieve some clearence between mirror and securing discs. Therefor loosen the counter-nuts and screw the screws in with an allen key.

H400 user manual Now you can tilt the primary mirror for collimation by using the screws, shown in the following figure. Of course you need to loosen the counter nuts first. Figure 13 - primary mirror collimation screws Tilt the primary mirror so that the laser beam points back to its origin. Then secure the adjustment by tightening the counter nuts.
Focuser and electric cover The H400 Telescope uses the ASA Device Hub to communicate with the user computer. The device hub provides 5 ports for ASA devices. Each of these ports contains a 24VDC power supply and a CAN-bus connection.
Fans The H400 Telescope is equipped with 6 fans. If you are using this telescope on an ASA DDM mount, you can use the spiral fan cable to connect the mount’s fan connector to the telescope’s fan connector. Then the fans can be controlled via ASA’s mount control software Autoslew.
H400 user manual 9 Maintenance Removing the main mirror cell To remove the main mirror cell you need to remove the back cover first. This procedure is described in the beginning of chapter Collimation of the primary mirror. Then disconnect the cable for the fans that are mounted in front of the primary mirror.

H400 user manual Cleaning the main mirror Required materials: • Detergent • Distilled water • Alcohol • 2 spray bottles • Kitchen roll (paper cloths) • Microfiber cloth You can leave the mirror inside the mirror cell for cleaning. Put distilled water and detergent into one of the spray bottles.

H400 user manual 10 Software Install the Software ACC (version 26 or newer). You can find the installer and the ACC.ini file on the included USB flash drive. Copy the file ACC.ini to the following directory: C:\ProgramData\ASA\ACC The ProgramData folder is hidden in Windows. So change your view settings in your Windows Explorer to make hidden folders visible or copy the path to your explorer address bar.
