Where the scaffolding exceeds 2m in height, each contractor (including subcon- tractors and the self-employed) should be satisfied that the scaffold has been inspected by a competent person within the previous 7 days and should therefore ask to see the report of the inspection.

  • Page 21 Scaffold Introduction and Guideline_TUV Before scaffold erection, the trained and competent workers should check the location of the scaffold to prevent hazards during erection and dismantling, moving with respect to the ground conditions, level and slope, obstructions and wind conditions. It shall be checked that all parts, auxiliary tools and safety equipment (ropes, etc.) for erect- ing the scaffold are available on site.

Snap another pair of horizontal bracings onto the first and the second rungs of the frame. Install four stabilizers onto the tower. Install 2 rung frames with the detachable handrails.
  • Page 23 Scaffold Introduction and Guideline_TUV Erection Procedure - Double-Width Scaffold Assemble the leg and castor / base plat combo and plug them into the base of frames. The safety lock has to be ‘clicked’ for completing the plugging. Stand up the frames and lock up the castors by applying the brake.

(1 rung = 0.51m, 2 rungs = 0.97 m) Never stand on an unguarded platform positioned above the first rung of a tower. If your risk assess- ment shows it necessary, you may also need to guardrail platforms at this level.
