Overview
Vantage's RS-485 stations connect to RS-485 devices and
communicates to Vantage via the station bus. This design
allows easy placement in close proximity to the RS-485 device
being interfaced with and eliminates additional wire runs
normally needed. The Vantage System may be programmed to
control RS-485 devices, or vice versa. There is an ever-growing
list of devices that communicate via RS-485 making this a
valuable resource in design and integration. The system also
allows "recognition" of RS-485 strings from third party
devices. When these strings are sent to or monitored by the
Vantage System any custom program may be executed.

not be connected to a 36Volt Station Bus.
System Requirements
This RS-485 station is designed for InFusion Systems or Q-
Systems. For QLink use software 3.3 and Firmware 6.3 or
higher. For new projects it is recommended that firmware and
software be kept to the most current release of either system.
Mounting
Installation of Vantage products should be performed or
supervised by a Certified Vantage Installer. The RS-485 Station
is connected to the equipment it will be interfacing with. The
small package will fit into most enclosures or hang behind the
equipment. There is a Station Bus Receptacle available that is
used to make a connection from the wall to the RS-485 Station
(part # ROS-1).
Station Connection
The RS-485 Station connects to a System Station Bus through
two screw terminals on one of the ends of the RS-485 Station.
The Vantage Station Bus wiring specification should be
followed for connecting the station to the station bus.
Connect the RS-485 station to a third party RS-485 device
through the three screw terminal on the other end of the RS-
485 Station. Screws connect A(-), B(-) and Ground.

Setup Using InFusion Design Center Software
First select the room, then click on Vantage Objects in the
Object Explorer and expand Stations, WireLink. From the list of
stations double click on the RS-485 Station to place it in the
room. In the Object Editor name the station and make sure it is
on the correct station bus port. Make sure the communication
protocol is setup to match the equipment it will be
communicating with. With the RS-485 Station defined, it may
be used to transmit and receive Strings. When you program a
task and select the Send Serial String procedure, the RS-485
station's port will be an option as a destination.
Set up with QLink
In the location tab, select the floor and room the RS-485
station will be placed in. Click on Add from the Menu Bar and
choose Station, or right click with the mouse, and choose Add
Station. Select the RS-485 station from the list. The RS-485
