The AmazonBasics food scale (part number B06X9NQ8GX) may not power on after inserting the batteries and pressing the power button due to the following possible reasons:

1. Low or Dead Batteries – The batteries may be depleted. Replace them with new ones.
2. Incorrect Battery Installation – Ensure the batteries are inserted with the correct polarity.
3. Mixed Battery Types – Do not mix old and new batteries or different types (alkaline, carbon-zinc, or rechargeable).
4. Battery Terminals Short-Circuited – Check that the battery terminals are not short-circuited.
5. Prolonged Inactivity – If the scale has not been used for a long time, try reinserting the batteries.
6. Faulty Scale – If none of the above work, the scale may be defective.
