5.2.
Use as an alternative power supply for vehicle equipment
Use the RS131 to protect electrical components with built-in memories, such as radios, alarm systems, computers, phones, etc.
5.2.1. Plug DC power cord into the lighter socket (fig. 1.B) and the other end into the vehicle lighter socket. Press socket switch (fig. 1.A) on.
5.2.2. Ensure all vehicle electrical equipment is switched off and then switch ignition on.
5.2.3. The vehicle battery may now be disconnected/removed, taking care to prevent the positive battery cable terminal from contacting any
metalwork (cover it with a heavy duty plastic bag).The unit will now take over the power supply protecting any electronic memory.
5.2.4. When the vehicle battery, fully charged, have been refitted, the RS131 may be disconnected.
5.3.
Use as a multi-purpose power supply
5.3.1. The Roadstart may be used as a portable power source for 12V DC accessories equipped with a male lighter plug - portable light,
coffee maker, portable TV etc.
The DC outlet (fig. 1.B) is switch (fig. 1.A) controlled and protected by a 12 amp thermal cut-out. If the cut-out is activated, disconnect
the accessory and allow approximately 10 minutes for the cut-out to cool and reset. Do not reconnect that particular accessory until the
cause of the overload has been determined and rectified.

Work light
The work light (fig. 1.H) is controlled by an 'On/Off' switch (fig. 1.G).
6. TROUBLESHOOTinG
THE PROBLEM
Unit has been recharged for 20 hours but there is no change in
status of LEDs.
Charger works well but still no change in status of LEDs.
No LEDs comes on, but when the AC adaptor is plugged into the
Roadstart, they do.
Roadstart is fully charged but has no power.
When connecting an accessory through the outlet socket there is no
power.

THE SOLUTiOn
Check charger to see if it is charging. Charger should be warm.
Check all wire connections.
Possible defective internal battery.
The internal battery of the Roadstart needs to be replaced.
Check where the cables join the jaws on the Roadstart clamps.
Make sure they are well crimped.
Accessory is drawing more than 12 amps and causing the cut-out to
activate. Allow to cool and reset and check accessory current draw.
