AH-HM-1U-NR HiveManager appliances require a total of 3 GB of memory to support HiveManager 6.0r1. This
Aerohive appliance model ships with 1 GB of memory installed, so you will need to install 2 GB of additional
memory before you can upgrade your HiveManager software.
The instructions in this document describe how to install an additional memory card.
If you use your own memory card, make sure it is a DDR2 667 MHz 2GB U-DIMM (non-ECC).

Upgrade Safety Precautions

Refer to Table 1 for safety precautions you should follow when upgrading the memory in your HiveManager
appliance.
Table 1 Safety Guidelines
Keep the chassis area clean and dust-free during and after installation.
Do not perform any action that creates a potential hazard to people or equipment, or renders the
equipment unsafe.
Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry that could get caught in the chassis or touch chassis
components.
Disconnect all power to the device by turning off the power switch and unplugging the power cord
before installing the memory card.
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can damage equipment and impair electrical circuitry. ESD damage
occurs when electronic components are improperly handled and can result in complete or
intermittent failures. Follow these ESD-prevention procedures when removing the cover and installing
the memory card to prevent damage to the equipment:
• Wear an ESD-preventive wrist strap, ensuring that it makes good skin contact. If you do not have
a wrist strap, ground yourself by touching a metal part of the chassis.
• Periodically check the resistance value of the antistatic strap, which should be between 1 and
10 megaohms (Mohms).

Upgrading the Memory

To perform a memory upgrade, you will need a Phillips screwdriver to remove the cover screws on your
appliance and a DDR2 667 MHz 2GB U-DIMM (non-ECC) memory card.
Perform the following steps to complete your memory upgrade.
1. Turn off the power switch on the device and unplug the power cord.
2. If the device is rack-mounted, remove it from the rack, and remove the rack mount brackets from the
sides of the front panel, as shown in
