Lighting Instructions

1. Failure to properly perform the ignition as stated in these instructions may cause danger.
Read and understand all operating instructions before lighting. Ensure that all protective
film has been removed prior to lighting.
2. The burner control knob must be in the "OFF" position (Ex. 11).
3. Propane: Connect the propane cylinder (see previous pages) and slowly open the valve
on the propane cylinder. Natural Gas: Open the natural gas shut-off valve.
4. Push and turn the control knob to the "IGNITE" position. Keep the control knob pressed
down and push the button until the burner lights. If the burner does not light after 30
seconds, turn to the "OFF" position and retry steps 4-6. If the burner still will not light, refer to the "Troubleshooting and
Bruner Check" section on page 14.
5. Keep the burner control knob pressed in for 4-30 seconds after ignition. Holding the knob allows the thermocouple
sensor in the igniter box to get hot enough to keep gas flowing to the feature (safety feature).
6. If the flame does not stay lit after keeping the knob depressed for 30 seconds, turn the control knob to the "OFF" position
and turn the gas off at the source. Wait 5 minutes until the gas has cleared and repeat the lighting procedure. If the flame
will not hold after re-attempting the light procedure, refer to
the troubleshooting section.
7. After lighting, rotate the control knob counterclockwise to
the "LOW" setting. Observe the flame and make sure all
burner ports are lit. The flame height should be no higher
than 15-21 inches tall (EX. 12).
8. Adjust the flame to the desired height with the control
knob.
WARNING: Lava rock and other fire medias are natural products. Water may have become trapped in it over time
and will turn to steam when heated, causing the rocks to pop and send hot rock flying. When first firing up your new
fire feature, keep people and upholstered furniture at least 15 feet away for the first 20 minutes to avoid injury and
damage.
WARNING: If the burner flame goes out during operation, immediately turn the control knob to "OFF" and let the gas
clear a minimum of 5 minutes before attempting to re-light.
• Please refer to the troubleshooting pages for additional support, beginning on page 14.
